Ha, this one is not in the same shape as the previous ones.. I think it needs a rear A-arm (has a crack).. but otherwise, seems to be in decent shape..
I probably will need to sell some soon before my wife get on my case.. ha ha ha!!
I will take a pic of all 4 FOX when this one comes in!!

Speaking of cracked A-arms.. I wonder if these alloy arms are home made or some aftermarket companies actually made these?! Any idea?!

Hey y'all..
Nuther new 35 year old trying to regain his childhood by getting into vintage tammie's.. my 6 year old son got a new bright poj for his birthday from a friend and it sparked more emotions then I would like to admit. So I ended up bidding on 2 blackfoot's. (if you were trying to bid on the same ones, Im sorry although I doubt it..)
Anyway. Both came with stock motors and son's was first. Swapped out mech speedcontroller out with tamiya esc and has a vintage kyosho le mans.
Am going a little overboard with mine. Got a sprint 2 esc and a pro stock 2 motor. Am going to have to lock that diff if I plan on having those spurgears for much longer.. oilfilled shocks from a failed nitroproject (dont ask, wont go back there for while) and have started to make my own parts.. (check those rear shock towers!)
Body is an original blackfoot that was pretty banged up, but have started the filling back up, and is now primered.. have drilled out the headlights and have made lenses to put behind the holes and install some headlights in it..
Just wanted to say hi and ensure the other 30 somethings that theyre not the only pathetic ones! Now off to make those swaybars to keep this puppie from rolling over so much..

Nice vintage Tamiya!
For your Blackfoot, you might want to look up the Frog thread (similar chassis).. and there's a Blackfoot thread as well, although it is (I think) a general Blackfoot thread, does not distinguished between various version of Blackfoot..
Welcome!

Hey LB,
I finally have my own Fox!
Is in a nice condition. Really like the yellow paint job, only need to paint the roof and black details.
I will add the obligatory Tamiya front stabilizer (on order) and a Technigold motor (in my parts bin).
Might run it....once.

RE: Sly as a Tamiya FOX! Legend of Tamiya #51!
wrong thread again? forum confuses me..
just an update. Put in a before pic, a now pic right after grassy testrun and a pic of the finished rear shock support with the studs for the up and coming swaybar if it doesnt come apart before then.. suspension is stiff as a board right now and may go back to single springs to to justify building the swaybar..
anyone know why esc overhets so quickly? duratrax sprint 2 running a yokomo pro stock 2 motor.. esc should easily handle this right?
anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Hi Luncboxer!
Do you have any more information about these alloy arms?
The original rear arms are probably the weakest part of the Fox and also extremely hard to findthese days.. Replacing them with alloys seems like a smart choice!
I've been searching the net for more info on these parts but so far unsuccesful.
If anyone has some information about these I would be extremely grateful if you shared..

I don't have any more information on them, sorry.. Don't think I have seen them for sell either. Best bet would be to check eBay now and then...

LB - I have a question for you. I just getting ready to tear down my Fox for a rebuild but something is bugging me. There are metal tabs attaches to the lower front control arms but don't connect to anything. What are they for? Should there be anything attached to them that might be missing? Almost seems like there should be a sway bar attached or something as the entire front end moves...

Yeah, I think it is only used if you got the sway bar installed...
For these type of suspension w/ single shock, I'm surprised that the sway bar is not standard...

Since I'm not in a habit of starting a picture thread for custom built "odd-ball' tamiya buggies I've decided to post pics of this Tamiya Fox variant I jokingly refer to as the Super-Fox. I built this back in the early 90's with parts taken from the Tamiya Boomerang, Hotshot & a few Fox parts. Until recently I thought I lost this buggy until I dug it up from storage inside my parents house.

That is very interesting looking!! So it is RWD only, right?! So center driveshaft, front diff, etc. were removed?!

RE: Sly as a Tamiya FOX! Legend of Tamiya #51!
So, is it wrong that I cannibalized the Fox I was given?[X(] A while back, a friend gave me a box full of old stuff, including a complete original wild willy and two foxes, unfortunately there isn't enough intact parts to build a working front end between the two. When the side springs on my daughter's re-re LB gave out, I decided to do a third shock mod, and the front shock from the fox is just about the right length. Well, I've got two, and it's not doing any good sitting in a box. The spring's a little rusty, and the oil stains won't quite come out of the shock body, but I think it brings a little soul, or daresay, wabi-sabi, to the 'Box.

RE: Sly as a Tamiya FOX! Legend of Tamiya #51!
Truth be told, I was pretty bummed when I figured out that I didn't have enough front end parts for a runner[&o]. I always wanted a Fox as a kid, but never got one. I rigged up the better looking chassis for display duty, but figured the best way for the car to live on was to do what I did. I should get a pic up on the LB thread...

That kind of stuff is basically impossible to find other than trying your luck at eBay.. for Tamiya hop-ups, the chance would be better as it was re-released (and somewhat close to the original)..
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
