Default Help putting SLIPPER SHAFT AND TOP GEAR back together !!!!!!!

Has anybody know if the slipper shaft pin can be taken off so I can slide the top drive gear in? Or do I have to pound it in from the other side? And hope that the groove for the pin lands aligned? I tried to push the pin out, but it seems like its real tight. I also tried to slide the gear through the other side, but it stops way too far away from the pin at the other end, and feel that if I force it in, I'll have problems spining it and aligning it with the pin so it falls into place. I would appreciate help from those who have done this. Thanks.

The pin is pressed in and will need to be pressed out and then back in when gear is on . Try using a pair of pliers or small vise to push the pin through .
