well.. you wont want to use tamiya connectors... i reccomend deans plugs.. one female for your battery pack and one male for the ESC. O and also a male one for a convertor for your charger... good luck

R/C is a great hobby. You can enjoy cars with out risking your life or spending so much on real cars. They are also easier, and you can't get in trouble for them. Atleast not with electric.
It gets you outside, too. I love it!

I want either a Subaru Sti, or the Evo.
A Toyota pickup sounds good, too. If not that, a Ford or Chevy. I think a pickup would be a great first car.
