Well got my Firestorm in on Friday. I plan on upgrading to brushless in the future after the brushed motor craps out on me. Here is some pics and a vid of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b4uRAj2yyU

that motor has a 5mm shaft 48P pinions with that shaft size are gunna be hard to find unless you don't mind drilling them out yourslef and if you do, do it in small steps so you're only taking off maybe .5mm at a time, yes this will take a while and cost a little $ in bits but you'll get it centered way better than if you try go from 3mm to 5mm in one shot....

thats alot of rpm's 5900 x 14.8 = 87,320 what gears and tires are you running?

lets say you run the stock gears 19/87 and lets say bow-tie tires you would be pushing 77 mph's [X(] that would be cool to see.

Differential Ratio: 1
Transmission Ratio: 2.6
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 87
Pinion Tooth Count: 19

vpower, have you run that setup for very long? I couldn't get a novak 4200kv ballistic motor to hold up to that voltage beyond two charges.

You might have to try one of those hobby city motors.

not longer then one charge but i dont tend to abuse the motor that has that much power.

and did you read the specs of that novak you cant put more than 2s li-po because of its design i mean i would have tried 3s but with care.... so basicly you screwed up there my friend.

Hi Red

My up and coming speed attempt will be using the following, not sure how you figure out the ratios for your speed calculator

VXL Motor - 3500kv
Battery - 3s 11.1v
Pinion - 30t
Spur - 77t

feeling stupid!!!

I just looked at Red's example and not the attachment, did'nt realise scroll downs would have Firestorm details.

Anyway my attempt should be good for 68mph, blitz 77t spur and Edit 30t pinion are in the post.

70 mph is enough for me but sooner or later i will modify the chassis for less weight, put a fan on the motor and run a bigger pinion and smaller spur. and maybe put big bore shocks for the fun of it. im already thinking of some good foam tires and maybe with all this i will achieve at least 85 plus mph (btw what is the fastest speed record on a rc race track?)
