I am a little scared to get one of those servos now. Wouldn't a digital servo work well with 2.4g digital TX/RX combo. Digital to digital? I really have no idea.
I have been using my Storm on the road and parking lots quite a bit lately so, now I am thinking of getting some on road tires. I was gonna get another set of HPI 2.2 Wheels and run the Anaconda 2.2 Rear buggy tires on all four. Has anyone ran these tires and what did you think?
Might just be a bad pot in the servo,It is a $25 servo, but all the reveiws where very positive for it.As with everything else could just be a fluke.Anywho i will let you guys know how it holds up etc.

Hi guys

Took the Firestorm out today to try out the 30/77 gearing on 3s, very fast but I hav'nt got it close to what I think it could do yet! the main problem was the radio gear kept loosing signal due to going quite far down the road, I'm running stock HPI gear. I do have a 2.4 in my Savage so I think the Firestorm will be borrowing it, another problem is heat, I think I hit the thermal cut off on the ESC, the motor got to 190 so I let it cool for a while. One thing that supprised me was the amount of torque the 5700kv still had running the 30/77, it would still wheelie on demand and at speed would flip over the wheelie bar onto the roof. To really get the high speed from this set up I will need the more reliable 2.4 so I can run for a long straight line without needing to accelerate to hard which results in wheelies. I've got a couple of short videos, neither are very impressive so I was'nt planning on posting them, will have a 2nd attempt later this week.
Those are the exact problems one would expect from that setup.Keep that esc and use a VXL motor.

I find that the 2.2" tires are too small. I use 2.8" proline jato rear wheels and 2.8" proline road rage ( 30 series ).The diameter is just a bit smaller then the stock tires.
You will aslo need 12mm flat hex ( with no lip ).

I installed my alloy bellcrank today. Quality is good. I have not driven my EFS yet ( no motor ) but there is a lot less slop in the steering ( 80% less )[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I thought I might as well show progress so there will be a link to vid in a while, I agree with what your saying Red, for normal use the VXL motor is going in once a friend of mine has soldered some 4mm connectors to it, plus a slightly smaller pinion which will give speeds of approx 50mph on 3s. Will the ESC still get as hot as it will still be running 3s.

I run the 2.8 Anaconda tyres and find them very good, good grip and very little ballooning

Having had problems with heat issues myself, I think the stock esc is still going to run hot with a 3s and the vxl motor. Castle says is rated for 3s but I have my doubts!!!

Good job on the video. Keep filming.

ok this will sound very stupid to some of you just dont post anything about this

i was running the stock brushed system and going full speed on one of those 2s li-po i bought and crashed against a telephone poll and when i started checking for damage ... noting but then i take out the li-po and notice it bent backward so i bent it back with my hands and kept running it. now here comes the question the battery isnt hot it wasnt hot and certinly did not explode or catch fire but would it be safe to charge it again???[&:]

and as for the brushless they still didnt send it so i told them to switch it for the 3500kv and thats what they are dooing

If I were you while charging it the next few times I'd use a lipo bag for sure and do it in your garage AND keep a close eye on it.

Just a little FYI I just got a couple parts from platinum RC products (they make some cool CF pieces) I got the servo hold down and the front brace. I like the quality but I wanted to give you a heads up. If you get the front brace you will need a couple spacers on top of the posts of the bell crank, the after market piece is flat and the stock one isn't. I installed mine without spacers and noticed that it was all sloppy and threw a couple plastic spacers in. Works great now. I think I may have used the old plastic bushings from the bell crank as spacers not 100 % sure. they were rolling around my tool box and they fit so.....

If your 6 cell nimh is in good shape, I'd guestimate a good 35-40mph, maybe slightly higher.

"edit:after further investigation, problem was either insuficient power from ESC to RX (and gyro and servo) or excesive power if i connected the 4AA batterie pack at the same time (with the lipo) the car would behave strange (no acceleration and strange sounds) , so i installed an on/off switch between ESC and RX (leaving only signal and positive cables working), now gyro wont go crazy after a minute ..."

i tried to fix the tire thing, but it wont come off, i tried boiling water and nothing, i used pro ca glue http://www.amazon.com/PRO-CA-GLUE-TH.../dp/B001BHGDWA

try boiling then freezeing or baking 250-350 then throwing them in the freeze supposed to work better more of a temp change and all

If you put the tires in an over at 175-200F for a while the glue should peel off easily.
