    RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

This past week I've run a few packs and the handling of the truck has become very bad. Its all over the place. Its the outdrive cups, they were perfect until this past week and now they are grooved and lock the pin on the dogbone causing the suspension to move under power on one side. Here is a video I just took of it driving. The quality is bad and its long and boring but you can easily get an idea of what I am talking about. I would say plus or minus 20 feet from centre is what I can get under power. Sometimes it can be seen shifting from side to side about an inch total when the pin is locked. You can hear the clicking, my slipper pad almost worn and the noise of the cooling fan. Temperatures are staying down but I didn't change the gearing yet. This is 87/19, the 40 or so mile an hour setup.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J17o_A0tEk

Do you guys have handling problems with the worn cups? Five days ago the truck ran as straight as a pin all the time.

Will do. We should also do the 'bring two friends' thing and get the free gift. I may have two buddies going so that would be four of us.

I don't mean to be rude, all others in the forum are welcome to join us regardless of how far from Toronto they are.
They are advertising 70% off show deals - lets see if its worthwhile.

I guess you don't have a motor and ESC now and won't be able to bring your storm?

I will send you the link your requested in PM in a little while (at work, I actually have to work now).

Believe it or not, in that video I was trying to drive the truck perfectly straight other than when turning around. Its all over the place.

Ok one show is at the international center and has all hobbys.. and is $12 admission with free parking.

the other is in missasuga on dundas street at bigboyswithcooltoys and is RC only and has the 70% off and bring a friend deal with free parking and free admission.

I say we do go to both. They are less than 20km apart. The question is which one to go to first and what time are we going to meet. I am open to any time on sunday. There should be plenty of areas to drive. I will bring my link and a laptop with the latest version of the software and two full packs. My truck will be squirreley, though, since I am holding off on buying outdrive cups just in case a blitz ESE is going for a good price at the show (I want to try the ball diff). I would love it if a good 550 motor was available for a good price.

I am guessing that the Big Boys show is a result of them not getting along with whats going on at the other show. It seems odd that they would host another show nearby at the same time - I guess the big boys with cool toys don't like to share?

I just bought an e-firestorm silver CF chassis, front shock tower and battery strap. Oddly they don't sell a CF rear shock tower. Its been on my mind for a while and I kept going back to their webpage and I just did the impulse buy.

I don't think those HPI shafts are titanium...I think they are just steel with a titanium-nitride coating to resist scratches and reduce resistance.

Lunsford looks like the right choice for a truck that takes that kind of punishment!

Took the MM 4600kv for a test run on 2s with 19/87 gearing, top end is the same as the novak 5000kv on 24/87 but it has alot more low end power. It seems to run nice but does cog a little sometimes on low end just for a second.

This thing should just scream on 3s
