Is it possible to adjust the rear toe in on the e firestorm? Just looking at the car I'm not seeing a way to do this. I feel like my rear tires are pointed in too much.

yeah there should be some toe blocks that came with the truck, if you got it new. if not I think strc makes some alum ones or get the hpi stockers. Check the chassis under the rear shock tower, just in case, I had a friend crack the chassis after multiple huge jumps, we couldn't see the crack until he wiggled an arm.

Hello Folks,

Has anyone bought the new updated EFS Flux ? Looking to buy a stadium truck which is durable and fast. Just wanted some first hand information regarding this new truck? Thanks for sharing information!
There are only a couple of people that have it. Its not a new truck but rather the old truck with updated electronics. Many people in here have driven similar ESC and motor combo's. So in a nutshell, the opinions of the old truck do translate a lot over to the new one.

Thank you guys,

So that means the updated truck is the best bang for the buck! I gather the older version was far superior than rusty vxl or t4 etc. This new one would surely score above the other ones...

yeah. the Rustler VXL in my experience is very durable, but the handling is lacking severely.

Thanks Terminator,

Well handling in my opinion is very crucial. The BL system promises high speeds and that requires great handling. No point in pushing the truck to its limits and then losing control!! Btw do you have idea about the EFS Flux? Which one would you recommend at around 300$. Criteria - off road, good handling and speed. Thanks

Yups EFS over Rusty VXL, although you seem to be a die hard Traxxas fan. I like them too but gather from forums and youtube that the EFS is better ! Personal choice and opinion also matters. Maybe the VXL's are popular coz of their marketing strategy and availability of parts (which is verry important)

Hi Guys, have'nt checked in for ages so got a lot of back reading to do, had an awsome run with the FS the other night, using 2s than 3s packs trying to put in some fast speed runs! Now I've blown the dust off it I'm gonna be getting back into speed mode, for the next run i'm going to remove the rear spoiler, tie down the shocks to lower the ride height, add weights to the front. With the gear ratio i'm running and high power 3500kv motor its hard to stop it taking off!!! hopefully the above will fix this, my other issue is I think I've blown the diff, need to check first but has anyone run the ball diff option??

3500KV motor? Velineon? and no i have never run a ball diff personally but unless your gonna race i'd stick with a gear diff. otherwise its just one more thing to screw up on your truck when your bashing the sh** out of it!

Any tips what pinion should i use on the new storm flux (with 4800kv motor)? I looked at castlecreations website and for 4600kv they reccomend 14-16 but i think that these pinions are too small..... a friend of mine runs 5700kv motor with 16t anf bigger pinions. I'll use my storm mainly for racing.

If anyone has seen the updated version of the HPI firestorm flux, it comes with a waterproof esc and, as many know, the hpi brushless esc’s are just rebranded castle equipment. The new flux vapor esc looks exactly like a waterproof version of the sidewinder v2. Who else thinks that we may start seeing waterproof castle speed controls in the near future?

castle doesnt' sell their esc's as waterproof, but per a castle rep, the boards are coated in a silicone spray making them water proof, i'm not sure how accurate or how effective that covering is but i've gotten my SW plenty wet and it still lives soo.... i geuss i'd trust it...

You won't find many people in here who won't prefer a Firestorm over a rustler. I personally find their design to be outdated but the velineon system seems good and nobody complains about it. Most of the guys in here run some kind of castle system and if you read back you will find that people praise their setups and don't complain - that says a lot.
I had mind out last night. 88/17 gears on 3s. It has an ideal top speed that is likely in the high 40's and maybe 50 (I didn't have a second set of hands for the radar gun) but it spins the tires a lot (no wheelies) so I am going to back down on the punch a little more.

What motor and esc have you got in there?
Got a Sidewinder sct in mine with 21/87 gearing and a 3800Kv motor on 2s but aren't at all happy with the speed.

Castle 4600 4-pole and mamba max pro esc. It was 60F outside and the temps were in the 80-90F range. I am running 3.5 inch road rage tires but they balloon a lot. You've got to go to 3s.

I reckon i'm hitting somewhere between 25-30mph. My esc hit 87F and my motor hit 92F max.
Going to try an associated t4 spur of 78t and try a 25,27 and 29t pinion in the hope that I can get into the mid 40s.
Not sure that the Sidewinder sct will be upto handling 3s with this motor for too long as it's a beast.

i'm going to stick my neck out here, im running a VXL 3500 motor with a 30/77 for tarmac, some will say thats gonna go up in flames, on 2s its very quick - I'd say bit quicker than stock 5700 flux and runs warm but not hot, on 3s its insanely fast and runs a little hot but still ok. Off road I put a 24t pinion in and 3s is still more than fast enough! I converted to the Blitz spur as it gives you more options to play around with gearing etc, also the 3500 runs so much cooler and easily runs 3s packs.

sorry for the newbie question, but how many teeth does the spur come with on a stock E-firestorm. i just upgraded its motor to a mamba 6900 and just wondering what it is.

Damselfly - your speed with 4.2 inch tires calculates to about 30 mph.

http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html

You will need to go to the 77t to get the speed you need.

ICB - based on the calculator your gearing puts you in the high 40's with 77/30.

The lower kv values of the velineon and SCT motor really change the gearing a lot compared to what I am used to seeing with the 4600.

Cheech - you are on the opposite end of the spectrum.  That kv rating motor isn't run too often in firestorms.  I don't think anyone here runs above 5700 kv.  That should be a fast setup, though, but watch temperatures.  Its an 87 T spur - not problem with newbie questions but you really should use the manual too.

the VXL system has outstanding torque and speed possibilities for being the 540 size motor and 1/10 scale ESC its designed to be. although the VXL ESC i've heard doesn't like 3s without some major gearing down and a cooling fan.

I was driving tonight and on a speed run with the radar the truck lost power suddenly.  I havn't had a chance to check it out yet other than to verify it wasn't a drastic low voltage cutoff.
