And yes that's a lowly Tamiya connector...
LOL looks kind of steampunk with a brushless esc with an 80s connector.

You can get like 10 sets of knockoff deans for $10.
money's not the issue......knowing how to solder is, especially considering i've never soldered anything in my life

what kind of performance gain are we talkin for having deans plugs??

It's quite noticable, especially with high current draw. Your tamiya connectors are going to melt together eventually anyway so you might as well change them.

had a good run today...but with the snow melted and the sand on the roads from the plows the firestorm wont stay on line even if i go slow up to half power then ease into it it goes sideways and i can only hold it so long before it goes around....Took a look at my settings ..first i had it on linear throttle curve,Too much power too fast, I will change it to expo....And i had the punch control at 3 out of 5 I will change it to 1.And i am going to turn up the drag brake to slow it down when i let off so it doesnt coast for ever.....I think with these changes it will be easier to handle....Over all the Havoc seems to run very good on the stock 19t pinion but it was -10 out so we will see in the warmer weather how warm it gets.

well after a bad crash that left half my front end wedged under a car tire, she is all back together.just waiting on my bowties.i ordered buggy tires by accident.had to send back.anyway i ordered some cheap traxxas dish rims and died them black.this will be my new combo.shown also with HPI super shocks.much cheaper alternative to the threaded ones from hpi.they are supper easy to assemble and very smooth.

I'm running the same shocks, and the difference is so obvious even a newbie like myself noticed.
But I need to add stopper inside the front shocks as there were more droop (is that what we call extra travel?) than with the stock plastic shocks.

If i were to do it again i would buy the flux instead of the non-flux then adding brushless...

For a battery if you want NIMH go with the 7 cell Ener-g 4600 or Elite 5000 MAH's
If you want to go lipo Team Orion makes nice lipos that only need balancing once in a blue moon....

Just a quick question, is masking tape ok for masking a new shell for painting, or should I use a special product for this?

Cheers!

caclark- you could use the blue or green masking tape since its low tack it wont leave any glue on the body.

I see you also spiced it up with some carbon fiber. I wonder if that's just for looks, or does it affect the handling any?

Deans connectors rock, I was having a hard time soldering them until I got a cheap pair of helping hands from Harbor Freight.

I just scored an E-Firestorm tranny off Ebay, going to stick it in my Evader buggy. Have you guys had good luck with 3s lipo and the E-Firestorm tranny?
