RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Sorry for all the posts guys one more its been a while since i got to fully share the changes
Ok here is the worst of it all i bash really hard and some how i stripped the mortor holes, so all the power and slamming does a number annnnddd i lkinda have been threw a few spurs. . . and few i mean TOMANY!!!!!! not including the two random losi spurts from my dads old lst that actually fits ive gone through three hpi spurs and am on my fourth and thats not gonnalast long. . . i found a blits aluminum spurt and i seen that in the earlier posts someone used it but said u had to change a few things but dont know exactly what tho. Also ontop of that ive chewed off a many of dog bones, and looking at the pics iiii think i made the stupidest rookie mistake and put them in backwards didnt notice the grooved end *EPICFACEPALM* . . . ill convert to universals around christmas

Thats a lot of broken parts! Are you using loctite when you tighten the motor down?
I had a crappy battery in the 2-pole storm yesterday and got it up to 130F. Road rage tires are great these days. They really need hot asphalt to stick well.

Some cheap ebay battery that was '35C' and 3000 mAh. Last ride for the novak today then back to the four pole in my main storm.
Mail is coming in at a snails pace. No parcels since mail started flowing again. I am switching everything over to electronic equivalents to help the postal service with the backlog.

I think they should have tested out the trucks hard before putting them out the front end is every weak. Maybe a cheap metal composite would have worked better. . . the im sure they are happy with the money they get on replacement parts [:'(]

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I run the CF brace but havn't had any failures on my e- or nitro storms except for a few a-arms, a bent titanium hinge pin, two bulkheads and one differential (ESC fires not included). The bulkhead breaking is pretty random and you have to push pretty hard to snap it. My last bulkhead break was at the hobby show last year.
Final run with the novak was tonight, I am going to put the castle 4-pole back in. The sensored motor is much more sure-footed but painfully weak.
The ESC I am running with the 2-pole is going to be put back in the blitz when the SCT motor arrives and the only other ESC I have is as SV1. It will be interesting to compare its performance to the mamba max pro directly on the same motor and battery.

I thought I'd post some photos of my storm now. It's the new waterproof 4800kv model. It's stock apart from the alloy gearbox, TBR bumpers and the baja body. It's also running an 18t pinion which is giving better temperatures when driving in low grip situations.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
You have a nicer table than mine. Mercer can't make fun of it.
Beautiful storm. I really like the body. Which one is it? I would like to paint one HPI orange and black. The storm is a beautiful truck.
That setup should still give about 50mph on 3s which is all you need. Anything beyond that is not practical. Have you used the link to play with the settings? You can get a lot more drivability out of it if you do.
4- pole is back in my storm, 88/19, torque control 8, punch control 50%. Has anyone played with deadband or start power in the castle link? I don't think startpower is much of an issue since I've put so much punch control in.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
With no body and a 19t pinion I got it to 52mph. With the 18t pinion I measured 45mph, but I think I could get it a bit faster on a fresh battery.
The body is the Proline Baja Bug. It's the short chassis one for Savages I think. I originally used it on my Nitro storm, hence the air vents.
I've had a bit of a fondle with the settings, at the moment I have punch at 40% and no torque control. I've used torque control, but I noticed an increase in temperature. I might try it again now that I've got a smaller pinion. I hated the effect torque control had on reverse though, reverse took a while to kick in so I might increase reverse power when using torque control.
Does anybody else notice an increase in ESC temps when using torque control? If anything, I thought temps would decrease due to a lower amperage being drawn.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I think the increased traction has a lot to do with it. I had a truck get hotter when I geared it shorter. I blew a slipper clutch in the 4-pole tonight. Its done until the mail gets moving. The parts were ordered june 2. Its eating slippers. Even when these pads were new I could hear the clutch slipping when the throttle was pegged.
I will try more punch control. It was at 50% tonight and I usually run 60%. I like to limit punch over torque.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I went to the bmx track this morning. I blew my diff. One bevel gear is broken in half, all the others have varying amounts of teeth missing.
Now I put some thin calcium grease over my gears a couple of weeks ago. I know you run nylon gears dry, but I'm sure you're suppose to run some sort of lubricant over steel gears. Am I right in thinking this? If so, what lubricant do you use in your gearbox?
Any tips on strengthening the diff? I don't want to order new bevel gears only to have them get blown apart again.
On a better note, had a good bash leading up to the diff blowing. I might upload some videos that were just taken on an iphone of some jumps.
