Yeah I'm still thinking about it.... I would have to do some things to make it more scale. Which would make it cost more, or I could just get the toyota hilux. But the CR01 is more versatile.

decisions decisions. Tamiya rocks though.

check vid if you havent seen it.

Yea there are pros and cons to each one. The Hilux is more scale but not nearly as capable as the CR01. On the other hand the CR01 is more capable but isn't as scale and doesn't have the three speed. You also have to realize that the more scale you go (smaller tires, lower body, etc) the less capable it will be regardless of the platform you start with.

Any way i moded the suspension, 1st doing Jta's mod then swapping the fount coils to the back and vise verser. The CR01 has now got more artulation and better hill climbing abilities.

What's the reason for swapping the springs?! I did feel it was an interesting choice of spring setup, but just curious what it is like to run...

Better at hill climbing, with stock if you go up a steep incline the truck offloads onto the rear axle and dose a black flip, so if you swap the springs rear the holds up better and doesn't backflip, well thats the theory anyway.

If that's the case, I wonder why Tamiya set it up the other way around... (cause they did call out different springs front and rear, so they must be trying to achieve something..) Hmm...

I think that a harder spring was used in the front because that's where the battery is, to support it's weight. How mine is set up it dose have a bit of a lean towards the front, if you used lighter batteries (like LIPOs) it would be the perfect setup, in my opinion anyway.

I'm also looking after one...but nice to see XB are out, since I need the radio set too...also nice to see a lot of bodys are fit to that chassis, even if the truck one is from some toys, I guess...
It's not fully detailed, but I see the XB are coming with LED lights set, but who can tell if some other components are worst that the kit ones. Tamiya used to build XB with some minor differences against kit contents...aka coil dampers instead of oil filled ones...and so ...[:-]

We will only find out after it is out.. but I'd think it will be built from the same kit.. don't think it will be a dumb down version.. ! This is not going to be a regular XB..
