Those are balloons, they help protect the receiver and shocks from water, dust and mud. You never know what you might encounter out in the wild The shocks are a hassle to rebuild but with those balloons, they are practically maintenance-free [8D]

Took mine out for a run in a very boggy field on Monday, ran well, but ended up very dirty, as you can see from the pictures below. Didn't get time to clean until yesterday, and found that water had got in everywhere. Had to spend a lot of time unseizing bearings and cleaning up gears. Perhaps I will be a little more careful in future...

Motor was full of mud and the case is somewhat corroded, and the steering had also all but seized up - I must firgure out a way of modding it to remove the plastic to plastic contact.

Anyway, here are some more pictures from when we had some snow that I haven't managed to post before. We are apparently going to get some more snow next week in the UK.

Well, the snow has arrived here in the UK, and the whole country grinds to a halt. I have been out with the Pajero and it is great fun, although the snow is really slushy and sticky and it builds up around the wheels until it stops them, leaving you with no steering and very little forward motion. Didn't take any pictures at the time as difficult to do whilst driving, but will try later. Is running more smoothly since I rebuilt the gearbox and rear axle, just need to make sure that I dry the bearings soon.

OK, out in the snow again today - now very slushy and wet. This time took some pictures afterwards. Love the way this car runs, so scale, down to the way it leans in the corners and scrubs the tyres!

Collector1, pretty neat clear shocks!

cbs52, looks good! Did you leave the shell unpainted or you painted it white?!

Thanks LB, I elected to leave the shell white as I figured it would get scratched pretty soon and this way any scratches wouldn't show too much.
