Default Killed my first Battery pack!!

I now know why they don't Recommend using 1500mah Nicds in Bonzers...

I just BLEW a pack..

I was doing some Climbing work, and I put in my 1500mah Nicd into the Bonzer and I began climbing the bonzer up the Brick when "FIIIIZZZZZZZZ?" and a bit of smoke appeared from just near the Battery and sure enough.. there is a Hole...

I have Circled the Hole.. The Batt now holds..... 200mah of charge.

and it smells!

The batt may not be hurt. The thin bar at the end got hot and melted the shrink wrap. Most of my stick packs get a heavy duty bar soldered on at the end and the ones in between the cells are ok if the pack is kept tight.

Ooh, maybe it shorted the cell too. Can't do too much with a cheap battery.

I had the same pack (came with my WK), plugged it into the 4x4 Rustler, gave it full throttle, and watched it go for half a second then coast to a stop. The bottom strip toasted just like yours did. The strips they use to connect these cells are like half the width of what they use in other stick packs. I honestly believe a thin strip of tin foil would work just as well.

You could take it apart and rebuild it to a sxs but you will need some heatshrink to cover the individual cells. These packs have two big cardboard tubes that hold 3 cells each. I rebuilt mine and one of the cells vented while cycling. I'm not exactly a noob at soldering sxs packs either. Too bad, they held like 700 mah over their rating.
