I'm wondering why Towerhobbies doesn't stock any Losi items? This Desert Truck could have been a good buy if only Tower had stocks for it.

The truck looks very nice. Should have come with an xcelorin, but brushed is good, too.

My LHS which carries most of the Losi lineup didn't know this was coming out. After a short search he found it and I have one on order, coming in around end of this month. This is my first electric RC truck but I currently have an eflite CX2 helicopter and I can say the 2.4g spektrum radio is great.

i may buy one of thease to race at my local track on wed. nights i wonder if you could use regular 2.2 wheels/tires on this. i will defenitly put a losi brushless and lipo system in it. im pretty much a hard core gas racer but this truck looks cool and like fun plus my local track isnt to far away and my gas tracks are 2 hour drives and with the stupid gas prices going up i may not pay 175.00 in gas just to race a gas car. i hope losi comes out with a clear bodyand maybey some hop ups like threaded shock bodies.

looks like my track is gonna let us run thease trucks with mod truck class wich is alot better than a spec class wich means its gonna get the brushless/lipo treatment. and if we have enough of thease trucks show up on a weekly basis we will get our own class

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
I just bought one of these a couple days ago and I love it. I bought it with the full intention of putting my recently acquired VXL system into it which I did. It was a fairly easy install. The only thing I had to "mod" was the way the motor mounted. Because of the extra long motor shaft I had to use some hollow ball connectors (see pic) as spacers. If you dont do this the pinion and motor shaft wont allow the gear cover to go on, unless you cut a round hole in it which I didnt want to do. But before I did that I tested it stock, and I must say this thing hauls for a stocker. With its stock motor and esc it was only slightly slower than it was when I put my VXL system in it. Then I put the stock motor and esc into my Tamiya Dark Impact which Im selling in the classifieds here. And it ran GREAT. Im actually in no hurry at all for it to sell because it runs so great with the Losi electronics.
My plans for my Desert truck are to test it with 7 cell 4600 mah packs that I had been using in my e maxx. See pic below for pic of the packs. And depending on what I read in this thread I may go a little higher on the pinion. Other than that I think this thing is PERFECT. I didnt think Id care too much about the front and rear lights. But now that I have them I like it. Below is a pic of mine with and without body to show the VXL installed.
