RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Hey guys, I've had my Slash for a few days now, and I've already busted a shock cap and a front arm. I'm replacing them with aluminum parts. My question is, what other parts should have priority for replacing? I don't want to replace every part, but what few do you think need to upgraded most?

Has any one else had problems with MIP axles on the 2WD Slash?I got the 8106 kit and the dogbone seems to be to short even with the suspension compressed.

I think I found out the problem. I have the Protrac suspension on the truck, the control arms are longer than stock,so thats why they are to short.

It's a AKKU 2s 5500mah 35c, they are only $23.99 with free postage!!!!!! How cheap is that!
Same power wise as my last battery, but this one is a hard case and it's shorter. My last battery is worn out ans suffers from extreme voltage drop under load, so it lost heaps of torque and some top speed. Now it's all sweet again.
How's looking at my slash I've noticed some chips in the rear skid plate, looks like its been catching where the openings are, I've ordered the rpm skid plate to correct that, so with any luck it might be faster in long grass

I recommend extending ur own chassis, that way the battery tray is longer.
here is one I did for a 69 charger body

Woot, got the RPM sensor working now... I was waiting on the magnat holder, all fitted now.
Its pritty darn cool seeing the RPM and Speed live, Ive set a few other gauges up to show me the average speed, max temp, min voltage, and max RPM

hummmm, on a 1/2 charged battery bashing in the back yard it got up to 67km/h 41mph just under 30,000rpm... thats from memory, so dont quote me lol
Its running a 23t pinion, 87t spur, 3900kv motor, 2s lipo, on stock wheels, give me some time and ill connect up a amp meter and fully charge the battery. then I can tell u the proper speed and current draw.... last time it was luckly to pull 60a out of 190a available on take off

If u like proline have a look on there site, all there SCT tyres have a small description about where they were intended to be used.
then compare that information to where u run or plan to run ur truck

UPDATE... yay im slowly getting my slash handling better thesedays, Ive sold the roll cage so rather than bashing, now im like a clubman racer, Im just racing friends, well more like running laps.
This whole time Ive thought my shocks were great, boy was i wrong Im now running Losi XXX shocks, & wow i cant belive how much less resistance they have in the seal and piston... so much smoother and effort less. Im still fine tuning them, with oil and springs. im starting with a stiff setup to start with then go from there, Im happy with the steering so im trying to increase the rear traction So ive got 2.5" blue(4.1) in the front and 2.5" green(3.7) in the rear. Keep in mind this is for a very high traction track with long highspeed banked bends
