My 6 cells are peaking at 9volts. Is that ok or normal? I'm using an AC/DC Intellipeak charger and 2 different Duratrax batteries. One is 3800mah the other 4200mah.

Yeah that's defiantly normal because you will fun that under load they drop down.

Yes, that's normal during charging. I have a 6 cell pack that regularly peaks around 9.2V while charging. As soon as the charge stops it comes back down to about 8.5V.

Hello! I'm new here with my stock Traxxas Slash. I planning to make it brushless sooner with velineons VXL system, but which battery should I have?

Depends if you want Nimh or Lipo. An EnerG 4600 pack from Promatchracing.com will work very well in a VXL Slash. You probaby want at least a 3000 mah 20C if you want to go Lipo.
Those should work fine.

I must have been thinking of something else. Those Badlands are 5" tires, so they'll rub the body like woah unless you cut a bunch of it off and raise it up as high as it'll go.
Badlands aren't exactly what I'd call "pin" tires. They're more for serious offroad, mud, and occasional rock crawling.
Check out the ProLine Gladiator 2.2 tires. And any 2.2 truck wheel with 12mm hex hubs (except some beadlocks) will fit the Slash.

Picked up a dremel over the weekend and took it to the slash.
First, hollowed out the front a-arms.
Next Hollowed out the wheels.

1. Stock Traxxas Slash, no chassis modifications.
2. Must use Traxxas XL5 ESC, Titan 12 turn Traxxas Motor (Band with decal must be on the motor) and steering servo.
3. Any radio system may be used (ex DSM)
4. Any battery or motor connection may be used.
5. Batteries will be Venom 3000 or Lower NIMH or Orion or Reedy 2400 LiPo
6. Any Traxxas or RPM part made for the Slash may be used.
7. Any body may be used as long as its designed for the Slash.
8. Stock tires and rims only. (No beadlock tires, stock rubber will not fit on).
9. Any gearing my be used.
10. Must use stock springs, any shock oil may be used.

Get RPM A arms, and shock towers at least. Gearing really depends on how tight the track is. If you have a lot of twists and turns with short straights, gear low so you get good bottom end. Gear higher for straighter tracks where you have room to go faster.

All the stock connectors are fine for the battery and motor.
RPM A arms are much tougher than stock, and are lighter. Same goes for the shock towers. The hub carriers are questionable. I've broken two myself, but I've broken numerous stock carriers as well.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
I run 12C NiMh on a MM/VXL pretty often, and with that much speed comes big crashes. I have almost every RPM part available (Except the front shock tower and the skidplates, but I dont know if they are even out yet). I gave up on the rear RPM bearing carriers, because they are not as strong as the stock ones and was breaking them almost every run. I finally upgraded to the traxxas aluminum rear bearing carriers and I am very happy with them!
