What is the width of the slash?. I'd like to build a nitro version but with a staight axle rear. I'm working on a 5th scale version and I have an extra RC4WD Madforce axle to use. Is Traxxas selling clear bodies yet?

If you like the realisem of the Slash, then check this out [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7491573/tm.htm]Project Hard CORR[/link]......also inspired by CORR RACING.

Unless you don't want to run the slash body, I would highly suggest not buying moabs. They are a great tire but too tall. Id go with geolanders or something similar to that. Maybe dirt hawgs. Maybe even dirt hawg II rear buggy tires would be cool since they are thinner. They aren't as tall as the slash tires though.

Sorry to just butt into this thread but I looked the first page and it appears the Traxxas slash has a 13mm wheelbase...

So its ground clearance is higher than the wheel base?.....Sweet

How about the width? Still trying to find the width on this thang.

11.65" width. Same as Wheely king is what I've heard. People were discussing if it is 1/8th or 1/10th, and they all agreed that it is closer to 1/9th.

Hmmm...so I shall use a Wheely King straight axle for my rear. But does anyone suppose a wheely king can handle nitro???

I've only been threading for a couple months now. But back when Savage and T-Maxx came out was there as much contraversy on the better truck? I can't believe how much bickering is going on about Slash and that other thing.

have you tried fitting the slash body on your 8th scale buggy? the deminsions look strikingly similar.

Here's a few pics I found on RCtech for the thread. My favorite is that Ivan Ironman Stewart paint scheme.
If I had a slash Id paint it up just like it. I think I'm gonna get a upgraded Team Checkpoint charger and new batterys and stuff later instead though.
I like these pics and thought Id share them.

After owning the slash for a few days and driving it a bit, here are my thoughts...

First drive... Honestly, I was disappointed.... I had just turned off my sprinklers, so my grass we wet, so was my sidewalk... wet grass isn't fun... wet sidewalks, not fun either....

I guess I was expecting monster truck handling out of a stadium truck, and thats why I was disappointed....

So after driving it a couple more times... I think I'm happy with it.. I haven't had the chance to drive it "in its element" yet (off-road, dirt tracks, etc) It doesn't go well on grass, its OK on the street, but im worried about the tires..., but it is fun to jump over a hump/stump in my front yard... even with only about 5 feet to accelerate from a stop to hit it, I can get 1-1 1/2 feet of air and 4-6 foot distance.... I cant wait to try it in some dirt....

Ok now my question... Bodies.... are there other bodies that will fit the slash and look OK? I would like to get some different tires, but the ones I want wont fit under the body....

I'm still not 100% sure I made the right choice getting this over the losi DT... but I think I did....

i can say its tough... had a few decent crashes with immovable objects... nothing full throttle yet, but more than a bump... nothings broken....

New Era has some adaptors to put 8th scale buggy wheels on the slash.
www.neweramodels.com <<look in the Traxxas section

Many people at my track will be doing this conversion as well. Gives you way more tire choices.

Just wanted to post my Slash. Got the blue one and have yet to drop in my Velineon system. Got to take it off the Lightning first. This thing is huge!!! I can't believe Traxxas gives it a 1/10 scale. More like 8th or even 7th scale. Anyway, This thing is fast and super fun. Looks like suspension arms and other goodies are compatible with rustys and pedes. So aluminum arms may be in the future.

Cool....Looks like every other Slash. No disrespect, but is Slash ever going to sell a clear body? I want one of these so bad but I'm just waiting for a clear one. Guess I'll just have to paint the outside cuz I've been waiting too long. Alot of people have been waiting to get one since it first hit the market. I've been waiting since I first seen it at the 2008 CORR season opening weekend at Pomona Raceway last April. Come on already!!!

Slash.... no self respecting parent would let a kid choose a game console over something that gets you outdoors (even if you arent a "kid".... i may be 28 and a parent myself, but im still my moms kid )
