well, since the slash has only the 2 small wheels rotating for it's generally large size, the conservation of rotational momentum is such that you need drastic changes in wheel rotation to rotate the whole mass.....
Have you tried throwing it in reverse? loosening the slipper wouldn't affect that much, unless it's really loose....if your wheel stop in the air, thats as much rotational force the wheels can exert (basically, neglecting impulse).
I always threw it in reverse when that happened

yeah, always make sure to try and coast over jumps. Some are poorly designed and can kick you around funny, and then you have to figure out which side of the jump is the best, or which speed is the best to hit it. Also, wind plays a huge factor with these giant bodies.

Hey guys I just took my Slash to the track a couple days ago and it did good but it needs a little more punch what is a good pinion size for a 2wd with a 2s and vxl for a big track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMDNs8rUzlo

arethere any ways to make the slash lighter? is there a company that makes alighter undertray? theres a lot of empty room under the body that obviously adds unnecessary weight. any tips or advice?

Hey guys, I ussually just run MTs, mo track around me. These slash 4x4 get a lot of pub. Are there a lot of bashers out there? How tough are these? Can they handle big jumps? Breaking? They look like fun.

As far as durability goes they are as good as anything else but if you hit something just right you're buying parts. So no help with the pinion guys?

All the castle stuff I've seen comes prewired. I have the stock 19t pinion now but today I'm getting the Robinson racing 16t-26t 6 pack.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Ok in case this hasn't been posted before, I will go ahead and post it anyway. I have seen some folks asking if they can run a Novak Ballistic/Havoc 5.5 or 6.5 motor on 2s lipo on a Slash 2wd. My verdict is go for it!
I just ran my mostly stock Slash with a Velociti 6.5R sintered motor and Mamba Max esc (sensorless only) with the timing set for "high" 15* and it ran without cogging much at all. The only time it stutters is start up when up a hill etc.
Setup:
Mamba Max ESC
- High timing,
- 40% brakes - could have increased it more, it felt weak for this particular motor
Velociti 6.5R motor w/ sintered rotor (~6500 kv)
Gearing: 18t pinion, 87t spur
2s 5000 mah Turnigy lipo
Runtime: ~ 20 minutes of mostly on-road some offroad hard stop go
Temperatures after run: ~145*F motor, ~115*F ESC, 85-90*F battery. (no cooling fans on anything - Integy my motor fan wouldn't fit due to solder tabs).
Top speed guestimate: ~low-mid 30s.
This same motor powers my Bandit using the GTB ESC and on 2s will barely reach 120*F and propel the buggy to near 35-40 mph speeds.
Keep in mind this was running in sensorless mode, with an ESC not quite adept at smoothly running Novak sensored motors from what I hear and my 1 previous attempt on 3s couple of years ago (stuttered like mad - must have been older firmware and or timing issue).
So if you are looking to buy the Novak GTB/Havoc 5.5-6.5 brushless system for your Slash and were doubtful about heat/weight/speed issues, you can rest easy.
BTW, I blame it on my battery quality and possibly motor heat, but I was able to wheelie initially, but as the battery ran down it was not doing it as much.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Hey everybody!!! I am getting a Slash soon!!! I have a question. I have somewhat of a Rustler (no chassis) only a burnt up speed control, a stock motor, an rx, the whole front end and the whole rear end and all the suspension components along with a servo. What all parts on the Rustler will fit on the Slash? I need to know what to take off and keep as replacement parts

I kind of used my Rustler to build my Slash roller when I got it. So I can tell you that you can keep the tranny, the front arms, (the rear Rusty's are too long) and the front bulkhead that the arms attach to, and I believe the shock towers. That leaves pretty much the Slash chassis that will attach to all this stuff.

Cool . Looks ready for some desert running !! Is that a piece of rubber you have zip tied to the front bumper ?? A little extra cushion perhaps ??
Extra weight in the nose seems to be a good thing on a 2WD Brushless / LiPo Slash as well !?
