Default DF03 vs DF02 whats better

OK, I think its time to try a Tamiya and was looking at the Dark Impact and like the look of it but see it uses the DF-03 chassis. I read somewhere that DF-02 chassis had stronger gears/diffs. So now Im looking at a Rising Storm and notice its cheaper. Which one would hold up to brushless better? Thanks

I don't know which one would be better off with a brushless system. The DF-03 comes standard with oil dampers, and all that other good stuff, whereas the Rising Storm is just basic. No aluminum stuff, no oil filled shocks, no adjustable suspension. All depends on how much you want to spend I guess. If you're just going to get a brushless system, I'd think the DF-03 just because it has upgraded suspension, and other stuff as well. You can buy alu. parts and oil shocks for the DF-02 also. Hey, do you own a prelude by any chance?

but you can't get a slipper for the DF-02 and w/ BL you will need the slipper.

Id go with the DI m8 has the slipper to help with BL power and 4wd too,or if you can stretch your budget the durga is a good race buggy for the price.
All the kits from tamiya are nice and easy to follow and fun to build.

the df 02 kit does come with oil shocks and adjustable suspension
if you want a buggy with buggy sized tires get the df 03, if you think you want to race get the df 03, it however has ball diffs and dosn't respond very well to large tires
if you want a solid easy basher get the df 02, it has gear diffs rather than ball diffs, the df 02 cannot be outfitted with a slipper but will stand up to most brushless systems, I ran the mm 5700 on 3s without any failures, it ran hotter than heck but no failures.
I have had 6 4wd 10th buggies over the last few years, the df 02 is the only keeper but in its defense the df 03(with buggy tires) would still be around if not for a fool and his money, I had $265 in the car and he "beat" me down to $350 on it lol

I think the only magazine test I ever saw on the df 02 showed 18.9 mph, I have seen more than one 55-65 mph modified ones, from a foam tired novak 3.5 on 2s up to a 1509 neu with a quark 120b and 4s on street paw truck tires.

the df-03 can get stones in the body and jam the steering if your driving on loose dirt.

I have the plasmaedge (df-02) and i have never had a problem so far.

Ijust ordered a Plasma Edge after being tired of all the repairs my Keen Hawk needed. Inoticed that some of you are running brushless. Are you running offroad with jumps? Curious if my 8.5 turn brushless (Novak Havoc) will be okay in this buggy, or if Ishould get something like a 21 turn fireball (Venom)?

df-2 can handle almost any brushless out there... there are a ton of hop ups if you need em for that model. the only problem is traction. my rising storm with a 5700 mm with a good battery is too fast. i have to take it to a huge parking lot to drive it, itll shred tires at will. not my favorite but it is a strong preformer.

the longer shocks would work but you cant make them too much bigger cus the drive shafts make the whole car wobble like cus they jam on the drive cups.

It might be able to go higher if u used cvds but i dont know.

go for a bigger wheel and tire to gain ground clearance, it may not handle as good but it bashes so much better
