I'm going to get a Firestorm when ever I get a new ST. I like the eletronics in the Desert truck and the looks but I'd rather have a more reliable tranny and a chassis that is proven durable. I did a search for XXX T alloy on ebay and I found 2 things...

Just an FYI you cant turn the DT transmission all metal, the middle gear is plastic and I have not been able to locate a metal version.

Not that it matters alot since they are cheap if you do by some way break a gear. $3.50 for 2 gears. I just had to run the slipper more loose than I normally would like and its been fine since.

have you heard of anyone stripping that gear? or have you stripped them yourself?
I stripped mine running a mamba 5700 on 2S lipo in the grass. I slowed to make a turn and hit the throttle to come back and its shredded the gear.

I replaced the gear and put in a slower novak XBR brushless setup in the DT and its been fine since. I put the mamba and have been running 3S in my slash for a couple weeks with no issues.
