Generally what happens is rather than breaking, they get deformed, which is just as bad. They still have to be replaced.

Yes, they break, well, they bend to be exact, but to me that's being broken if a part fails in any manner.

Of course in a big race it might be better to have a part bend than break. You can still finish with a bent suspension arm.

If that race is worth the price of the part. Like with me, I'm debating purchasing a aluminum front shock tower, but the thing is 40 bucks plus some change, and a standard one is only 5 bucks roughly, but they (the stock plastic) break often.

alum will bend but if you keep bending it back it will snap off. that happened to my alum skid plate on my e-maxx.

You cant go wrong with Alum. Shock towers. They will add minimal weight and add lots of strength. Just be weary of upside down crashes, those will bend an aluminium shock tower if hit hard enough. Peace.

yeah when they bend they are toast and if you can bend them back that bend point is very weak and will prolly snap

why not make your own out of sheet aluminum, a ton ot people have done that, alum is good on certain things but for others it isn't good, plus if you make 1 part very strong it will cause other stuff to maybe break, not good[>:]

The front bulkhead, bottom aluminum nitro chassis my EXT is riding on, and the top deck chassis will have no problem taking on the extra stress of a aluminum tower. But yeah, I don't have a machine shop and I have only found one place that sell an aluminum shock tower, if I could find a place that carries them for cheaper, I wouldn't hesitate the purchase.

OK thanks to all. Why not in metal? it's better no? If the alu twists itself, it is not good

Aluminum is a metal. Sometimes it's worth it, like me, asides from the shock tower thing, I also go through many spur gears, and at 5-7 bucks per spur gear, if I go aluminum, I won't have to replace it, saving money.

Everything has pros and cons. Is it better? Yes and no.
