Scale 4x4
Could an Axial AX10 be used as a Scale 4x4 ?
Essentially I want to have a scale looking rig but I dont have the money to spend on a Highlift or CR-01..
So I was thinking of using a Savage Shell like a Chevy ute or something and using the AX10 chassis underneath it...

RE: Scale 4x4
sure you can make any truck look scale, it just depends on what your definition of scale is...
body, yeah sure any body would work, but chassis. Thats kinda hard with an RC.

wow the English language escapes you stealth
can we attempt to form a full sentence? I don't think in any language that is a full sentence...
As for the question at hand...

RE: Scale 4x4
Define scale. If scale in your books is some Geolanders or 1.9's and a body from a Wal-Mart RC then yes, you can use an AX-10 as a base vehicle. A true scale vehicle doesn't use much more than the axles and tranny of the donor vehicle.

RE: Scale 4x4
You can definitely use an AX10 as the platform for a scale truck. Here is a Bronco build from the rcmt.net forums using an AX10 and the [link=http://www.tcscrawlers.com/On-Sale-10-off-TCS-X-Trail-Scale-Chassis-for-the-Axial-AX10-Scorpion-p-16556.html]TCS X-Trail chassis[/link] with 1.9" tires. I'm in the process of converting my AX10 to a scaler using the same chassis.

Yes.. thats the Look I am after...
Something that looks Scale... doesn't have to be chassis perfect but needs to have that scale appearance

RE: Scale 4x4
Axials make excellent scale trucks. The XTrail chassis with the TCS Delrin leaf springs will suit it well. It will reduce overall suspension travel and adjustability, but scale isn't always about performance.
The major drawback of Axial axles is the excessive width. Thet are much wider than many bodies on the market, so you will have protruding wheels from beneath the fenders.

RE: Scale 4x4
mmm I might have to bite the bullet and go the Highlift unless some one can suggest an Alternative Scale chassis?
I really would like to have the best of Both worlds, scale with good offroad ability..
Thats Ideally what I would like, except with a Black Escalade Shell or Porsche Cayenne

It's all going to be about your budget. RC4wd has some of the nicest chassis building parts in the US.
axles: http://rc4wdstore.com/index.php?cPath=60
chassis: http://rc4wdstore.com/index.php?cPath=30
wheels: http://rc4wdstore.com/index.php?cPath=34
If you want plastic axles, PTI's & TLT's are a good width. Axial has the best aftermarket.
Shop around and you will find good ideas. Particularly with the "search" buttons on scale RC forums.
