E-maxx 3908 is for real people!
I live in Sydney Nova Scotia, Canada we have a hobby shop down here called Great Hobbies, and they have a listing under the 3905 e-maxx, which says e-maxx vxl brushless 3908. They have no price as of yet, but they will have one as soon as traxxas puts it on there new announcement walls. So everybody get ready the 3908 is deffinately coming.

RE: E-maxx 3908 is for real people!
There a quite a few websites that advertise a V-twin Emaxx with part number 3908. They started advertising them when Traxxas released the V-Twin concept video last year but Traxxas never put the V-Twin into production. If you look on the Traxxas Community website you'll see that people have been talking about seeing ads for a 3908 V-Twin for a long time but the Traxxas techs who post on that site all say it's not going to happen and 3908 is not a real part number.
It's kind of funny really, one of the Traxxas techs explained that the V-Twin Concept video isn't an advertisement for a brushless Emaxx, it's only meant to show that the drivetrain of a 3905 can handle a lot of power. He doesn't just hint that it's not a real truck, he explains in plain english that Traxxas "IS NOT GOING TO MAKE A BRUSHLESS EMAXX". Then one of the first replies to his post asks "When will it be released?". LOL

I saw the ad on Great Hobbies, and I saw several more on other websites. I've been seeing them for months and the story is always the same..."the owner says they'll be here in a few months..." and now months later there's still nothing.
Here's a thread from about 7 months ago...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_68...tm.htm#6875474
Go look on the Traxxas Community website and see what Traxxas employees are saying.
I don't remember if I read it here or on the Traxxas site but there was one guy who put a deposit on a 3908 Emaxx when he saw the ad a few months ago. The LHS guy said he'd be the first one to have it - he ended up transferring the deposit to an E-Revo because the 3908 just never existed.

Well i tell you something i have heard from a guy one has a little inside scope on what traxxas is coming up with and thay are coming out with a trx .23 bigblock motor and the new e-revo and e-maxx are going to have brushless in them stock and all traxxas cars and trucks are going to have 2.4ghz. This is all coming out around x-mas time. I heard this from a guy on-line so it is 50/50 but he seemed to be telling the truth so cant wait!! BigBlock Power!!!

They'd be dumb not to make it when people are lining up to buy it, probably some overbearing lawyer going on about liability concerns or some obscure california law about selling vehicles more than 5 lbs. that can go faster than 60mph. Seriously though, people will believe it if/when it starts to shop up on Tower or some of the other large sites, word-of-mouth is too often based on pure rumor and innuendo, not reality.

Why not just build one yourself? Some of the fun of R/C is building something that is unique to you. If you want a "3908" buy an EMAXX and slap in a pair of VXLs. If you can just go down to the LHS, throw down some cash, and walk out with a cool truck, what makes it so special when the next guy in line can do the same thing? Don't get me wrong, "the next guy in line" can get the same mods you have on your truck, but you still had to figure out what mods you wanted and you had to turn the wrench to create what you have. I don't see the big deal either way. Anyone who wants a brushless Maxx can easily build one with top quality parts and electronics that are probably quite a bit better than whatever Traxxas (if at all) is going to spit out.

RE: E-maxx 3908 is for real people!
I'm going on memory here, but if you look at the pics for the E-maxx Twin VXL, there were two VXL ESCs and there was some cable or something between the aux ports in order to get them to communicate (apparently) or something similar. It wasn't just a Y-cable for the throttle. With two motors this may have been a necessity (or at least well-advised) otherwise the motors might try to turn at slightly different speeds, straining the internals and such. By making the two ESCs communicate with each other, they can syncronize the VFD switching (even the phase thereof) in order to minimize anything like this.
Also it should be pointed out that while the twin motor, twin ESC solution is optimal for Traxxas it means they can mass produce just one type of ESC and just one motor for both their large-scale and normal-scale stuff; it's not really optimal from our perspective where a single larger motor makes more sense.

RE: E-maxx 3908 is for real people!
Vxl system is weak even 2, im not excited at all Vxl motor peak is 800watts, a monster max will pull 6000 watts peak.

i dont see traxxas releasing a v-twin emaxx. but they SHOULD release a brushless emaxx. just one with a proper 1/8 brushless system. it would also be nice if they gave it metal CVDs and it came with alum bulk heads(so they wouldnt break on the 1st big jump)
