Default Best RTR Stadium Truck for $200 help!

I am coming from RC airplane and I am ready to purchase my first electric stadium type truck.

I would really appreciate if anyone can recommend good RTR run truck for under $200. I am thinking about the DuraTrax Evader EXT EP ST RTR ($120) or the Traxxas Rustler XL-5 ($170). Not sure what you get for additional $50. They both seem to be about the same. One of my friends has the Evader but the steering is very touchy and no adjustment as far as rates. It seems that all RTR trucks don’t have a recharge jack for the transmitter.

Those are both good trucks, in stock form the ext might be a better deal. The EVST would compare more equally with the rustler.

hate to break this to you, but none of them are rtr's.
you still need a 6 cell or 7 cell battery and charger.
Hate it that they lable it rtr.

Charger is no problem. I have a high end schulze for my airplane lipos and will charge just about anything.

As far as radio, are they about the same for Evader EXT and Traxxas Rustler (quality and feature)?

Thanks

Has anyone put a charge jack on one of these radios? It would be nice to charge the battries inside the radio.

Thanks.

the rustler can be had for $150, shop around a bit more

don't worry about the charge jack, the 8 batteries in the transmitter last for a LONG time

Which of these offer little more radio control. I am looking for one that will let change the steering rate. After test driving the EXT, I really would like this feature if I can get it.

Thanks.

If youll be doing a lot of driving in the dirt then a Losi Desert Truck would be good. Its a little more expensive, but it comes with a Spektrum DSM radio.

The only RTR electric I kknow of that's radio can charge the steering rate is the xxx-t sport rtr 2. It has end point adjustments and alot of other stuff I find useful on the track. It has a JR XR2i radio and a great servo too.

I recommend the RC10T4. It's a little more expensive initially but for the extra $50 you get a far superior vehicle. If the time ever comes where your looking to upgrade a RTR you can go all the way with a T4; where as you'll be quite limited (in comparable performance) with the Rustler.

I just did a search through the manual of HPI's E-firestorm, and it looks like it comes with dual rate steering control. At $200 (minus any discounts you can get) it's just at your maximum buget. The truck itself is also a good choice.

Neither offer dual rate or charge jack. The evst has both.

i agree with both of them. i have the e firestorm with a sidewinder 4600 combo that i use for bashing, it is an extremely durable and just a great all around truck. it handles great on dirt and pavement, ive had it for about 2 1/2 to 3 months and i havent broken anything yet and when i drive i really beat the crap out of it

E-Firestorm. Better quality for $190. It can also be a racer if you want. . .

get the E firestorm, its tuff and handles way better than the rustler, and it has an all metal tranny that will not give you problems... the evader EXT is a great truck if your looking for something on a budget but for 200 nothing screams out better than the E firestorm.

Go for the E-Firestorm its very durable and can be raced.
Compare the Chassis of the Rustler and E-firestorm and you can decide.

Any of the Traxxas products are durable and will last a long time with very little maintenance or upgrades needed. The Firestorm is another great durable truck but more expensive but if you can afford it then go for it.. If you’re bashing these two trucks are about the strongest things out there. If you plan to race then you might wanna look into an Associated or Losi but keep in mind they are true racers and not bashers. They will NOT take the abuse that either of the bashers will. It all comes down to what you wanna do with the truck. Either way I’d stay away from the Evader series. I’ve had both the ST and the BX pro and neither where any good. The main problems with them are the transmission, the slipper and the chassis.
