[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a-bz8RJ4aA]Novak GTB/3.5R[/link] . But that is for extreme onroad. As you can see it doesnt work well with 1/10 cars. Anything with a R in it means road for onroad.

What will you be doing? Racing bashing? What type of track? Wide open or short? How big of field do you have? That stuff and I will tell you a good system.

that question would be easy to answer if novak would put out some kind of info on what there motors are capable of. in you dont plan to race in some kind of organized competition. just get a mamba max at least you know what to expect by the info posted on there web site

The "R" on our low wind Velociti motors stands for Racing. Here is a chart of the specifications of all of our brushless motors:

Motor Chart

Here is a chart for suggested 540 gearing:

If you have specific questions, you can ask them here and I will get answers for you, or you can email [email protected].

Regarding the temperature limits for the sintered rotor motors, how much lower is the bonded rotor temperature limits (like the EX series?). Also, should one upgrade an EX motor with the sintered upgrade rotor, would the automatic motor thermal cut-off raise higher or ??? TIA

If you are planning to race, we advise upgrading the EX series motors with the sintered upgrade kit. Bonded rotors are not recommended for racing applications. The Novak motor temp is sensed by the Novak controller through the blue sensor wire. The motor temp sensing is a proprietary feature of the Novak systems. If you mix and match with other mfg's parts, this feature is not operational.

I run a 6.5R with the GTB in my T4. LOVE IT!!!! You can get them as a kit like I did. More power than I will ever need and geared it stock spur 87, and an 18 pinion. It stays at about 130-140. Run it with a 2s lipo and you will not be able to help but smile.

Novak is alright but its way to expensive for what you get, my buddy has a sidewinder 4600 on a 2s and it rips! it keeps up with my mamba max 7700 2s for 170 bucks

What ever you get, be sure to get a sensored system. I have driven both and it is night and day difference.

Castle Creations isnt sensored and it is too powerful for racing especially on small tracks. You get a programmable esc, and high quality motor. For racers price usually doesnt mean much.

Interesting information, thanks! What is the cut-off temp?

Thats the one thing i hate on novak. There esc's are to damn big! lol

The Novak GTB has a smaller footprint than the MM or the LRP:

GTB.....37.8mm x 29.5mm

MM......48mm x 33mm

LRP tc..37.6mm x 33.1mm

Novak2 maybe you can answer this, how did you guys come up with or what is the logic behind naming the ESCs after animals? And how do you decide which ESCs get an animal name (Goat, Rooster, Mongoose, etc.) and which get a like the "GTB" or "XBR"?

Also the ESCs just look big b'cos they are orange. If they made them a different color like blue or black people would think they are smaller. But orange things naturally look bigger than they really are (to people).

Orange and purple do look bigger. Some of our newer controllers have the diamond transparent bottom tub and black HS (Mongoose, SLYDR) that looks much cooler (to me..) Now, we also shield the sensor wires in a black wrap, so the multi-colored wires don't show.

We go through phases with our names...in the past, we used Hammer, Duster, Dually, Atom, Racer, Reactor, Tempest, Cyclone, etc. In 30 years, you blow through a lot of names! I personally don't care for names like GTB, XBR, Super Sport. No character or identity.

I have a GTB/Velocity 6.5R in my T4. It is insane!!! I love it. Get a motor a little more than you need, you can always let off alittle. That way if you need or want it, its there.

Quick question, I have a XXX Buggy and put a 4.5R GTB system in it. Dont race, just rip around where I can. It works great!! But on the Novak gearing chart it says "not recommended" Why?
