Default Traxxas Spur Gear Wobble....Solved? = NOT!

I believe I have found the cure for the "WOBBLE" spur gear problem on the stock 48P Traxxas Slash/Rusty. I did this on two of mine and it has worked perfectly!!!

Here is what I did:
1. Get a 10lb weight of some sort and a flat plate or piece of steel, ceramic or glass (I used a ceramic dinner plate).
2. Find a counter top space (perfectly flat surface).
3. Boil the spur gear in water for 5 whole minutes.
4. Remove from water and IMMEDIATELY place flat object on top and set weight (10lb) on top of that.
5. Wait 10 minutes to cool.

That's it...it has worked for me twice now...hope it works for you!....or you could just buy a metal one...hehehehe

PEACE!!!

What do you gain? I haven't had any problems with mine. I never even strip spur gears and I'm running 2s.

I also noticed the spur on my slash has a wobble.. I have been watching it. I think I got the sweet spot on my gear mesh though and have not noticed any bad effects yet..only ran 5 packs threw it so far with a mamba 5700 and stock gears.

Its not the gear on the Slash. Its the slipper clutch plate. I noiced mine was wobbling like crazy so I took it off and set it on a flat surface, and it sat perfectly even. I then put it on my rustlers top shaft and spun it, not a bit of wobble. Then I spun the top shaft on the slash, and the shaft was perfectly straight, but the pressure plate for the slipper was wobbling around like crazy.

Maybe for you, but this is not the case for me. Because if it were the plate instead of the spur, explain why it would not do the same with a Kimbrough gear instead of the bent up Traxxas one (I tried the Kimbrough and it is spinning true as could be. I tried both and the Traxxas has a pronounced wobble....So, I layed the spur on a flat surface and put a feeler gauge underneath it and turned it....it shows that indeed the spur is bent.

Maybe it is both.....so I guess you really have to replace both the plate and the gear...LOL

Well guys and gals...this tip worked great for two runs and then the gear warped right back AND broke.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!! OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THE APPEAR!!!

Wanna solve your wobble?.....buy Jato 32p gears and call it a day! That's what I did!

I did it, and It didn't work. At first it looked a little better, but after a while it just went back to normal. I don't have a problem stripping spurs, never had. I think I've found a good setup. Anyways, now the spur gear seems to wobble even more.

I do not know if you guys are having the same problem that I am, but my spur gear is wobbly on my XL5 Stampede. It seems that the spring for the slipper clutch seems to apply more pressure on one side of the bearing, then the other, therefore causing the Spur gear to be off a bit. I am going to go to the hardware store and try to get a small washer to go between the bearing and the spring to see if that will better distribute the weight.

The reason I am saying this is because I have carefully inspected all the parts of the clutch/Spur and it ONLY starts wobbling when the spring is up against it, not even tight against it, just basically touching the bearing.
