Default Lipo Questions

I am getting a brushless truck with a 70 amp ESC. Should I use a 7.4 or 11.1 lipo?
Also what does the C mean on lipo batteries. Thanks

70amp esc might be low... what truck? what size? all these have a bearing on what battery you use.

The C rating is a method for the lipo industry to rate how quickly the battery can discharge. Basically the capacity(mah) x C rating / 1000 = amps

The truck is the Exceed Dynamite Pro the one with the brushless motor and ESC already installed.
I would like to get a lipo for it but not sure of what voltage or C rating. So which is better a high C
rating or a low rating.

Get a 7.4 Volt lipo with a 20-30 C rating . The higher the C rating the more punch the battery has .

Higher C rating is better but more expensive. A 3800mah lipo with 20C (continuous) is capable of 76amps continuous. Was that 70amp rating on the esc max burst or continuous?

Not sure, it just says 70A, and I know this from the pictures of the truck on the nitrorcx web site.
It is being delivered on Monday.

Higher C is better, but you could always compensate for C rating by getting a larger capacity battery. 20C 4000 mah battery outputs the same amps as a 10c 8000. The voltage depends on what the ESC is rated for. 2s lipo will be pretty much guaranteed to work, then you can find out later if it will do up to 3s lipo. BTW, make sure it has a lipo cutoff built in.

If current is limited to 70 amps then using 3S rather than 2S potentially can give lots more power. Maybe 50% more [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Same thing with batteries, if the current is limited then can get the most power with the most voltage.

If it's a 70 amp ESC, get something that can put that out continuously, with high Mah. A 12C 8000 mah pack runs around $80 (SPC), I would get that.
