RE: OFFICIAL SLASH PICTURE THREAD!!!
Some action track pics from sundays races. I qualified 3rd for the A. Then with one minute to go I was running 2nd and I slowed to a crawl. I dont think my battery was dead, my motor was at about 200F. Crappy Komodo motors[:@]. Oh well next race is a different day and a different motor. Still ran well till then. It was hooked up and jumping perfect. It could of easily won if someone better was driving it. I tried to get some video but forgot to dump my card before I left. I got about 1 lap and the card was full.

Nice pics FrenchBlue! What kind of camera are you using?
They like to do that. You really have to gear down as much as possible to run the Komodo for any length of time at full speed. I found that out the hard way as well.

I tore it down and the comm needs cut bad. I guess the reviews were right. Needs rebuilt every 3-5 runs. I got 8 runs and it was toast. I need new brushes and have the comm cut and Ill be fast again.

That's about right. I think the most I ever got out of mine was 12, but I had a few fairly short runs in that stretch because of broken parts and stuff like that. Usually its about 8 to 10 runs and it just flat out quits turning.

Let me ask you. Does the comm need cut everytime or can just cleaning and adding new brushes get another set of runs out of it before I cut the comm. Here is a pic. One brush is 1/8 inch shorter than the other. I dont have a lathe thats why I ask.

What I've found works VERY well for cleaning up the comm between cuts is wet 2000 grit sand paper. You could even go higher if you wanted but there's really no need. Just get a strip just wide enough to cover the comm and about an inch long. Soak it in a cup of water for a few minutes, then wrap the paper around the comm and pinch it with your fingers while you spin the armature with your free hand. Just spin it a few times, then check it, until it's shiny again. If you wanted to get real fancy you could chuck the armature into a low speed drill or dremel and hit it with some metal polish afterwards, but it will look practically brand new when the sanding is done anyway. Then when you break in your brushes run it at 1 - 1.5v for about 5 minutes, and it'll be good to go.
I used to have a picture of one I did that to, but I must have deleted it.
