Default 3-cell lipo help

Is there an easy way to convert a 3-cell lipo to 2-cell. I bought a venom 3-cell 5400 mah lipo, and it is way out of control. IMO, there is no need for this much power. Would love to convert to 2-cell if its possible.

Using the high voltage and a lower gear or lower kv is usually going to be a better set-up (having more runtime as well) if the weight isn't too much of an issue.

What about voltage regulators? That is what they do on nitro cars becasue 7.4 volts is too much for the servos.

ChrisRC, good idea, I am gonna do some research on that.

Longhair, everyone thats into rc knows you can go slower with less throttle. Please just answer the question without a smart remark, it is not needed in my world.

I dont even think, in my situation, a lower kv motor would do. I believe it would still be too much. I can never go full throttle with it, and i have raced successfully for 15 plus years, i know how to drive controllably.

Does anyone have experience with soldering a lipo, I have soldered batteries, motors, speedos, and recievers, and consider myself pretty good at it. But i am a little nervous about this one.

Thanks to all that has had an serious reply

I am gonna see if your voltage regulator idea will work. I have heard the same thing on opening the case.

speaking race wise, what kinda speed control are you running? castle creations has a software program thatll allow you set your own throttle curves, you could use that to lower your top speed as well as the responsiveness of your throttle.

but bashing wise, id go with longhair, at least youve got it when you want it, thats what i do as im not a racer and have busted the adapter off of my esc.

It should be pretty easy to remove 1 cell and re-shrink the pack. You probably won't need any solder.

Please remember to re-label the pack.

It was not a smart remark as you say because not everybody knows proper throttle control.

Take your problem for example - "it is way out of control".

You could adjust the Throttle Curve on the radio so you can get more or less than 50% at half throttle for example.

Forget everything you think you know and study the manual. You learn a lot and save money in the process.

Sorry longhair, I guess i did judge your post wrong.

I could adjust the throttle curve, but i would really just like to convert to 2-cell.

Maybe i will post in the marketplace and swap for a 2-cell

Thanks again for the replies everyone
