If thats a 1/10th scale CEN(don't really know nitro cars well enough to identify) That system would work but I think the 5700kv or even the 4600 kv motor would be a better choice since the vehicle is probably on the heavier side being beefy for nitro. If its 1/8 scale you need a lower KV motor like something in 2000-3000 range.

If its 1/10th scale you can use 2s lipo(7.4volts) or 3s lipo(11.1volts). If its 1/8th scale you'll need atleast 4s lipo(14.8 volts) or 5s lipo(18.5volts)

yea, your right it is a 1/10th scale. i was thinking the 7700kv because i was afraid that the lower kv motors might have too much torque and would strip diffs and gears![:'(]
as for battery packs i was thinking off something like an 8 cell nimh. Would it be worth using a lipo??

nope you'll be fine with the lower KV's a 8 cell would be good but if you're buying new a LIPO may be the way to go...

i think i`ll stick to a good nimh pack. i`m still trying to figure out how to make the brakes work!? can i make the transmission lock both ways? or do i have to get a 3-channel radio? and use the existing throttle servo for the barkes?

disable the reverse on the ESC and use a "Y" connector between the servo and the ESC, when you accelerate the servo moves out like in a normal nitro operation, when you hit the brakes, the ESC doesn't have any brakes (disabled), so the mechanical brakes take over, little fancy but it should give the results you want[8D]
