RE: Should I get the Mamba Monster 2200 Kv or 2650 Kv motor?
i would get the 2650, just because theres not enough KV diffrence to increase heat by large ammounts over the 2200, the torque will be close to the same you wont notice a diffrence, the 2650 will have a slight edge in top speed,

What are you using it for?
The Kv rating is not the only difference. These are two different sized motors. The 2650Kv is a 1512 sized motor. The 2200 is a 1515 sized motor.

Would this be for the E-Revo? I would base the decision on the batteries you plan to run. If you'll be running 4S get the 2650. If you're planning on running 6S now or in the near future go for the 2200.

I have the 2200KV and 4s is enough for typical bashing. Speeds are comparable to the fastest Novak HV setup, 32 on grass, faster on a flat surface. 5s speed is pretty fast and 6s is simply insane.
The only reason to get the 2650KV motor is if you want to go maximum speed with only 4 cells. It's really more designed for the electric 1/8th scale buggy class. Being a smaller motor, you'll probably lose a little torque and it will probably run hotter. The 2200KV motor is the first setup I can run on grass at 42mph without any kind of external cooling system. Even on a hot day it stays below 140F.

I am going to be running it off road a lot. Which will have a better run time on my batteries?

2200KV almost certainly. Less RPM and more torque (bigger motor) means less switching on the ESC, less strain, etc.

i've the same question im going to make an e-asociated rc8 , wich motor is better for good times ona a 3850 tunderpower v2 5s or is better with 4s?

FWIW, I'm converting an RC8, and I chose the 2200kv motor. Another racer at the local track raced an RC8 with the Neu 1.5 motor and has switched to the 2.5 for next season, citing the 1.5 as overkill for our track. The 2.5 is similar spec-wise to the 2200 mamba motor.

We use the 2200 with the E Maxx on 6s and it is alright. Works great, very nice system so far. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I would get the 2200 if you ever plan on running anything more then 4s. The 2650 will give you a higher top speed on 4s, but you will probably get comparable speeds out of the 2200 after you gear up just because of the extra size. the 2200 will also run cooler and more efficiently. If you are running 6s you will need the 2200kv...

I have been looking at the same thing in an e-revo. I don't plan on going over 4s for a long long time and almost went with the 2650. I would think though that with 4s you could gear the 2200 close to what you could get out of the 2650 and with the 6s the 2200 would really shine. I guess the 2200 just leaves more room to grow while the 2650 is a bit more set on the 4s.

The 2650 is also a smaller motor 1000 watts compared to 1250 watt for the 2200 so the 2200 was made to pull the monster truck around better.

Think it through though. They have no real way of knowing what the motor was in (unless the user is dumb enough to admit it), so if it did break they'd end up replacing it regardless. Just like all those companies that claim they don't warranty their ESC used with another type of motor or such. How would they know irl unless you admit it?
And a 2200 on 4s is just as fast as a Novak HV 4.5 in my experience. Plus you get about 50% better runtime with the same batteries, and it runs much much cooler. If you just want Novak HV speeds, the 4s is fine. 5s is fast but still controllable, and 6s is getting into the zone of 'ridiculously fast'.

Don't underestimate the intelligence of those people, they have probably destroyed a good number of motors in various ways so they know what causes most failures. Just passing along the info, if you've got an MT get the 2200 then there's no problems if something does happen...

So then is it true the Castle's 67mm long 4 pole motor really doesn't have enough torque for say a 10 lb truck without exceeding recommended temperatures?
Just trying to understand here how to select the best motor for the application. Do you just always go for the biggest, lowest Kv motor you can get assuming it
1. Fits in the Chassis
2. Enough gear combinations available to gear it high enough to run at your desired max speed at the intended voltage?

The website should be more clear on that. I've only been able to find it saying that the 2650 is "Ideal for 1/8th conversions." and the 2200 is "Incredible in monster trucks with up to 6S lipo packs." So then wouldn't the assumption be that the 2650 would be an ideal motor for a Savage X conversion or Revo conversion (they are both 1/8 scale trucks, correct?) intended to run on 4S? Maybe I would only think then to get the 2200 if I was planing to run the truck on 6S.

RE: Should I get the Mamba Monster 2200 Kv or 2650 Kv motor?
It has enough torque but people would gear it too aggressively and melt it down. Our CM36 1/10th motors have enough torque to get one up to speed in a hurry as well, but the motor will overheat from the current draw even with the most lax gearing.
And yes, that's the gist of it. Our motors were made so you could gear aggressively if you wanted to and still be under max temp at the end of the run. If you put a 2200 in a buggy it won't even get hot...just warm to the touch (especially now that it's 10F or so here in KS lol)...what I run in all my buggies. I don't compete, just bash. Better to not have to worry about the motor IMHO.

I think the reason for the 2650 is the new ROAR 1/8th scale electric buggy class, which is limited to 4s. I would use the 2200 for everything else. The 2200 on 4s feels pretty much the same way a ST with the CM36-5700 on 2s does. On 6s it feels the same as the ST on 3s.
