It won't handle nearly as well as the Evader, but it is tougher, and you can get steel gears for the transmission. (or get a VXL that already has them) So you can run the most powerful motor you can find that will fit, and it wont even flinch.

Yeah, like everyone else said, it handles terrible compared to a real racer like a T4 or XXX-T. But they make decent bashers, I personally like the stampede better.

HEY!!!
i raced mine today against the rest of the 1/8th MT's!!!!

rustler is a great basher...pretty bad racer but if you can set them up right they are resonably good!!

What MT's do you race against? And a word of advice, take that RPM wide front bumper off!!! When I was at my track I ran a few practice laps then came in to make some adjustments. One of my racing buddies walked up and told me to take that wide front bumper off!! He said ut makes the caar jump really weird and handle funny. Took it off, and what a difference!

My guess would be the buggy wing would counter the wide front bumper?

the only trouble ive had with hte bumper was when going fast enough for the aerodynamic aspect of it made it wanna wheelie, if fact it's a pretty good thing...
most of the weight is in the back...therefore it lands the hardest, so ive got the rear shocks set up approreatly but the bumper will wanna lift the front and the wing pushes the back down during airtime
i handels pretty good for a rustler leme tell ya that

i race against an odd 5 revo's, 2 LST2's, 1 muggy and one almost muggy (lowered LST with muggy shock towers)

What did you do to make your rustler handle so much better there isnt many adjustments. Change out shocks and oil wt's I guess and different rim/tires.

If you put the slash a-arms and front rims on the rear, you end up with toe-in, thus resulting in a much better handling rustler. Night and day difference. On alot of the stock rustler, stampede, and bandits you can almost see a toe-out, resulring in the poor performance. up until my slash a-arm conversion, i used to use traxxas 4-tec rear hub carriers which gave me about 3 degree toe-in overall.

Slash uses nitro rustler rear A arms. That with electric front wheels will make your track width the same.

The servo has nothing to do with the way it handles, so that will make no difference.

Default RE: Rustler... GOOD??? BAD????

handeling changes i made...
proline 2.2 M3 edge fronts
proline 2.2 M3 gladiators
mamba max
spektrum servo (faster reaction time)
spektrum radio (faster and loads better than that crap traxxas one. ive owned 2 traxxas radios but never turned one one yet!!, just sold em')
U-bec (to keep temps down and speed up servo reation time)

aftermarket slash tuned spring set!!
these are multi-rate springs, i use the hardest ones on thew rear (are still quite soft when not compressed fully, they get harder as u increase the compression)
and soft ones on the front, that are super soft most of the time and when at full compression that harden up just enough.

80wt single hole big bore shocks in rear
60wt 2 hole powerline shocks with traxxas big bore shock shafts (big bores are the same as powerlines)
and a lot of tuning here and there...

Yeah I need some new shocks I put big bore caps on the stockers and only replaced it with 30wt and its still way too soft for me. Want some all aluminum big bores.

The diffrence from a bashing truck and a race truck, arnt that diffrent, they'll still go the same speed roughly with the same internals, racing trucks will have more adjustibility camber, toe, shock posistion, diffrent bellcrank settings. a racing rig is useally lighter made with smaller parts to save weight so it can go around a track, .02 seconds faster with a driver that no's what hes doing..., but other then that alot of racing is the driver. thats where you cant use racing rigs to bash around because there just not made for it... aka evaders
