Default Brushless Slash

What is a good setup for the Slash brushless and lipo that will get it in the 50-60 mph range?

I DO NOT want a Velineon system. I was thinking something maybe like Tekin.

Never had any experience with tekin, I am not sure what type of batteries they can handle. I would recommend either a VXL or Mamba Maxx 5700 if you want a complete sytem. Both can handle 3S lipo and both are well built systems. Both would get you to or close to your target speed. I have the Losi exelorion in my speed t and its a nice system too, comes with a fan as well.

The Novak systems are nice too, but I believe most do not handle 3S lipo which you will need for the speeds you are alooking for. If you want the tekin go check to see if it has a limit as far as voltage.

I have had a Mamba 5700, VXL, Novak 8.5 XBR Sport, and the Exelorion. Its probably not what you want to hear, but I would pick the VXL out of them all, its simple to use, runs cool, accepts wide range of gearing, and is so easy to change from lipo cutoff on/off. The Mamba would be my second choice.

Get a mamba max esc and a medusa 36-50 5900 V2 you will be able to do 50 plus on 2s. I do mid 40's with my medusa 4800 on 2s.

That may be possible, but he wants 50s to 60s and you will need 3S to get close to 60. You MAY barely get into the 50s on 2S and a 5900 motor.

I think you really underestimate how hard an RC car is to control at 60 mph, much less a Slash, which is hard enough to keep it on its wheels by itself.

But if you want 60, a VXL on 3S will get you there with little trouble. A MM4600 on 4S would probably do better.

The medusa motors have more power than the traxxas or castle motors and will run cooler. If you want to run 3s get the medusa 4800 and go faster than the traxxas vxl if you can keep it from blowing over. I use to run 3s but it only good for speed runs or really low kv motors. The 5900 will give you more than you can handle.

I tried VXL on slash with 3S lipos, its no fun, truck doesnt even go in a straight line because wheels dont get any traction. Now i am using 7 Cell with VXL and i found it to be fun. Just my opinion what do you guys say?

What kind of speed do you get with a VXL and 7 cell nimh 3000mah battery in slash? I have limited space so really cant do speed runs to find out.

Thanks

i'm gettin up to at lest 35+ on my 7cell with the vxl. its a 5000mah venom. i tried a 3cell lipo and before i could get to top speed the body was like a parachute and lifted it right off the ground and into some flips.

when i 1st got my used rustler vxl and 3s lipo i had to learn to control the throttle all over again. any other brushed rc i would go full/half or no throttle. with a vxl on 3s i had to learn how to ease onto the throttle. even at speeds over 30mph, going to full throttle would cause it to flip over backwards. im not complaining tho, it was the 1st time i couldnt ask for more power! not to mention runtime. my venom 3s 5400mah pack would get me 30 minutes of "all out" driving.
i hope to get a savage flux some day. the only thing the rustler lacked was better turning at high speed on dirt. the 4wd of the savage should help.

My goodness...................60? What is that, like 600 scale speed. The kid next door has a slash with a VXL 3500 and he was running it on 7 cell nimh's. I handed him my 3s 5000mah 30c lipo and it was so fast it was stupid...........barely controllable. I bet you could hit 60 with that system or the Mamba 4600kv with a QUALITY 3s lipo and proper gearing, but sheeesh, good luck steering it.

Basically any decent 5700KV motor on 3s, or a 7700KV plus on 2s. ESC is pretty much independent of speed as long as it supports the motor, get the ESC more for the features you want like programability, sensored, etc. Gear it right and watch the temperature, get a good enough battery, all the essentials. Also run better tires and don't expect to do much more than a straight line at that speed. If you have a huge space to run, try a transmitter with dual rates but otherwise be ready to slow to 30 or less to turn.

I would go castle mamba max and 5700kv motor - with 2s 6500mha lipo from max amps. But hold on for extreme power.

Over 50 is extremely hard to control, especially with a Slash since it is narrow.

I have the Slash with a mamba Max ESC and 5700kv motor. Running 14/90 gearing and temps were around 140 degrees using a 3s Lipo.

I GPS'ed it at 41 mph using the 3s Lipo. Using a 8 cell NiMH battery it went 36 mph. So only 5 mph difference. The Lipo was only 1300 mah so that might be a reason why it went slower than expected. However with the 1300 mah Lipo I drove it for a good 15 minutes.
