RE: rustler?????
It's cheaper to buy the VXL-equipped Rustler in the long run, then it is to buy a brushless system later at full-retail. $125 dollar difference, with the VXL system costing $165. And that's not even counting on the little upgrades the VXL has here and there. The big ones being the bearings (Standard Rustler's only bushings, so that's a $20 upgrade), the digital servo (Which is greatvery fast, very high-torque), etc.
In short, get the VXL if you can afford it. It's worth the $125 difference.

RE: rustler?????
get a vxl, no question, barrings, velineon combo, servo, metal transmission, all improved on vxl. Just start with 2s, then go 3s for crazy speed. Checkout hobbycity for good deals on lipos and chargers. You can buy a couple zippy's and a turnigy charger for under 150.

RE: rustler?????
For one I do not think the FLUX Tork 2200 KV would even fit into a Rustler. The Flux ESC also states to use a minimum 25C LIPO and the ESC is designed to run them in Parallel. Not sure where all that would fit in a Rustler.?
Anyway, I agree with the above people in their stating you should just get a Rustler VXL as it has upgrades built in and goes very fast. I got a standard rustler with the Titan motor and it was fine but as always you want more. I found the Velineon ESC and BL motor for like 125.00 so I got it and even on 4200 MAH 7 cell NiMH battery this thing flies. To be honest I really would not want it faster than it is now....but that is just me.

Speed costs money. How fast do you wanna' go?
But in all seriousness, the VXL is the way to start. It's cheaper to buy a VXL up front then to buy a base Rustler and bring it up to VXL standard. A lot cheaper.

Eh, hope you're not serious about going 90mph with a Rustler..
Even getting it going 70, I've heard, makes it impractical for every day driving because you have to gear it so low.
In the area of 55 is probably the fastest you'll get it while keeping it practical.
And remember that going faster just means you break more stuff when you touch something.

RE: rustler?????
Anything over 50mph is fast unless you have a perfect and freshly paved lot with no cars parked in it and no poles. I geared my Rusty to go super fast and added a Maxamps 3s 8000. Trying to have fun in the street is impossible. I've broken the chassis in half twice now hitting mail boxes, and I live on a wide street. It just gets crazy and stupid in a hurry, now I'm satisfied with stock gearing and 50+mph fro my big batt.

RE: rustler?????
i wana be able to drive it normaly but it goes realy fast when i open it up
It sounds to me like you're trying to get into more than you can handle. You really should start out at a more controllable level and work your way up once you get used to it.
Hey Fuse who makes that transmission? I need one.

RE: rustler?????
I have to agree with the others. First I highly doubt you'll get it up to 150km/hr regardless of what you do and ANYTHING at 100km/hr is going to have problems with stability.
The lowest cost system i know that will be super fast is the mamba max 4600 on a 4S lipo but then you're going to have gearing issues.
The really high speed runnners use custom built drag style cars. Standard trucks, like the rustler, aren't designed aerodynamically to run super fast.
