ultimatehobbies.com had the EXT in their specials section for $79 for a bit. Cheapest by far.

Ibought my 5 year old son one, and it certainly can take a bashing. The shocks went in the first week, but for minimal cost, Ireplaced them with the aluminium ST ones (installed last night), which should be stronger. They certainly arent fantasticaly fast, but fast enough to have fun with, and quite agile (keep in mind Ihave very limited RC experience). Ibelieve that they have a 12 month warranty on the plastic parts, so if you do break them, then no real problems!

The EXT is made with "Magnaflex" plastic which is much more flexible than the plastic used on the ST. It should hold up to abuse much better. The downside is it won't hold the suspension geometry as well for racing (who competitvely races EXT's though???).

I race my EXB. It is far from stock but I have raced it several times against higher end cars and dont feel handi-capped against them.

Here is a pic after messing around one day.

I bought 2 of these for my sons. They have been racing them weekly in the novice class and having a blast. They did not stay stock for long though. The motors didn't last long, and one lost a speed control as well. I bought a couple 13.5T Ez Run brushless setups for $94 each (paid extra for the .5 motors and the 60amp SC). I also upgraded both trucks with aluminum front shocks, the plastic shock bodies on the stock shocks pop at relatively small impacts. Other than one spur gear, I have not had any other problems.

And I need a link to that RPM front bumper. I really need 2 of those.

Just go to Tower Hobbies and order the Associated RC 10T4.1 2.4 GHZ Brushless RTR
the price $234.00 minus the $25.00 discount = $210.00.
You will have great truck the Evader is not a good deal in the long run.

First trucks werea traxxas stampede and slash . Bought the Evader for my Daughter for Christmas because it was cheap . Got what I paid for , a cheap car . She broke the front end off after 2 weeks . Not tough at all compared to the traxxas vehicles that are about $50 bucks more . Do not waste the money . The aluminum parts as stated above are ridiculously priced . The electronics and motor are pathetic . I would reccomend a Rustler . I deicided mine was not worth fixing and through it in the trash . Gave my daughter my Slash 2wd and bought a 4wd slash for myself ,

Nope the evaders will never be compared to the heavy crap traxxas puts out.

In a race on the track, I would take a evader over any traxxas 2wd. Anyday

If you want to run into mailboxes, curbs etc. Get a traxxas

Point taken . You are spot on about running in to things and bashing . I am not a racer . And my kids are 5 and 7 years old . Water resistant , crash resistant, easy to work on , cheap hop ups , plenty of parts at the LHS. Those are the things that keep me buying traxxas vehicles . Not if my kids are gonna win at the race track . Man that sounded like a commercial . LOL . Guess I am a traxxas fanboy !!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

The Duratrax Evader just did not seem worth spending money on to keep fixing or upgrading .

When Duratrax dropped the Evader ST. and Pro, the Ext is not really hobbie grade.

It depends how you define hobby grade. Pretty much every part on the car is replaceable, it has an ESC that can be replaced with something better, and quite a lot of upgrade uptions. As opposed to a toy grade, which does not have replacement parts, and is not at all upgradeable.

Okay, sorry the Evader Ext is hobby grade it just requires so many basic upgrades. My point is after all those upgrades you will spend alot of money. There are plenty of RTR trucks that are brushless, etc.etc. that can be purchased for a little extra expense. I have an Evader Pro it was a good starting point.
