For a short while there, you could pick up an 8ight T roller for around $300, but you'd need a conversion kit, brushless system and batteries. You aren't likely to pull that off with the budget you have. Have you thought about converting your 8ight? That's much more feasible for your budget.

Buying a new truggy would be more than your budget. You'll have to decide between a used truggy or sub par components... unless you find a great deal. Check the for sale forum on here, you might find what you're looking for.

RE: Looking for an E-Truggy .....
Caster has the 8T brushless version available now. I don't recall how much it runs, but it already has the motor mount and battery trays since it's meant to be electric. Caster sells EZRun brushless setups for their brushless trucks, but it costs a lot if you buy the EZRuns from Caster. I run a Hobbywing EZRun 80A ESC and 2300kV SL3665 motor in my E-Savage and damn that thing rips! It's running around 45mph with my current setup and the motor and ESC barely get warm (the motor never went beyond 105F, staying around 95F most of the time and ESC stayed around 85F).
The brushless setup cost isn't a big issue if you don't mind not going with Castle. I have a few EZRuns and they've all been great performers. There's an EZRun 80A with SL3674 motor that should move a truggy easily. There's also a 150A with SL3674 motor if you feel you need that extra headroom (though, the 80A seems to move things without any problems). And the EZRuns have been smoother than my MM, which glitches/cogs a lot. I haven't yet had any of my EZRuns cog on me.
The motor mount will run around $50 from RCM.
Batteries will cost whatever you're comfortable with and/or willing to pay (i.e. lots of LiPos on ebay from HK sellers). I've had good and bad luck with these LiPos. The bad were Zippy packs purchased from Hobbycity. The good ones were from another HK vendor (not on ebay).
Truggy...that depends on how "good" a truggy you want. I don't race, mostly bash and go to the track to have fun, so most any truggy works fine for me. I have a TTR ST-1 and am looking to pick up a HB Lightning Stadium for cheap. If you need the handling similar to what your 8ight offered, you're cost goes up a lot because of that.
