Hillbilie,

I have used and abused Novak's Super Duty XR http://www.teamnovak.com/products/es...yxr/index.html in my Maxx and can happily recommend it. It is listed on Kershaw Design's website http://204.186.93.64/Motors-ESCs-Brushed.htm. It appears that it will easily handle your 2 650s.

Any dual motor 14.4v or 16.8v speed control should handle those just fine. Check Ebay, I've seen a few brand new water proof EVX 2s going in the mid $80 range with shipping.

I think you should get a brushless system personally. It will be twice as efficient, faster, cooler, and just better overall. You fried your esc because using motors that big is rediculous. I would go for the mmm.

will there even be a noticeable difference between those two esc's? im thinking about going with the novak on e bay thats not a bad price. also could someone link me to a good battery write up, i want to order a bunch of cells and shrink wrap etc and builld some packs. i am good at soldering and everything i just need to know which cells and some instruction. rite now i have tenergy 3800s. but 30 bucks a pop seems like kind of a lot. thanks

Put a Mamba Monster in it and it will fly! My friend has a Associated SC8 with Mamba Monster 6S Lipo and that thing flys!!

Just curious what are your runtimes and what battery are you running? I'd also like to point out the MMM has a brushed mode.

MMM also costs more than the truck. And if this is an older Maxx, it'll need a ton of upgrades to be able to handle the power.

AFAIK Novak makes all the EVX series ESCs for Traxxas. Kind of a 6 one way, half dozen the other deal IMO. I'd just get whatever I could find cheapest.

Promatchracing.com has the most awesome Nimh cells you can get for 5.50 each. Jeff also has everything you need for building your own packs. Wire, connectors, shoe goo, shrinkwrap, and even HUGE battery bars, all for "teh cheap".

i have the mmm2200 in my 3905 maxx on 4s with 18/68 gearing it is completely uncontrollable

so if you do go with the mmm take my advice and gear it 23/62, get rpm arms and shock towers(the stocks wont hold up), and a wheelie bar

my truck pulls wheelies and rides them till you pull your finger off the trigger all the way until the lipo cut shuts down the fun.

the mmm can be had on the bay for as low as 263 shipped

now if you have a 3906 emaxx then just get a plain old 16.8 evx2 for 75$ shipped and you will have a ball

If you are a member of the "Tower #1 super saver club", you can get the MMM Combo for $240 shipped right now (You have to add something that costs at least a penny to bump your total over $300 to get into the $60 off bracket though, but thats easy). You can join for onbe year for only $10 right now, and can do it on the same order and it will still apply too! You may not need to order that thing that costs over a penny with that come to think of it!

Even though we never sold the EVX separately, we do offer an upgrade path for customers to our Super Duty XR, through our Service Options program:

SERVICE REPLACEMENT OPTIONS Speed Controls

The info is in the "Discontinued Speed Controls" section.
