Those rims are awesome! The only question I have is how to glue them? They must be beadlocks.

Some pics of the complted Buggy Champ.
Also, if anyone else buys the camber correction kit the cap screws I have circled in red in the photo of the rear end are too long as they come with the kit. If you don't trim them down a little they protrude into the knuckle and will tear the rubber boots on the universals.

I started on the Sand Scorcher for my son, this mod takes a ton of slop out of the rear end. I drilled and tapped the shock screw hole all of the way through to the counterbore for the extra bearing, and then used a grub screw to hold it in place.

I thought this video was neato.
Someone has attempted a brushless system in one.
But that drivetrain leaves alot to the eyes being it has no slipper, I would
think a brushless would strip it out.
I guess not huh...

I've found couple of brushless conversions guys have done looking while searching the web. It would be nice to get one set up so that you could program the throttle curve to go easy on the drivetrain. I'm thinking the differential would help a lot with all of that power also.
How do you guys post the thumbnails in your posts? I feel out of place being the new guy and all of my photos are full size.

If you actually upload the pictures to RCU (instead of linking your Photobucket), it will show up as the small thumbnails.. !

I think I figured it out. This is the original Sand Scorcher I picked up on E-bay. I will tear it completely down for a re-build once I get the new one finished, but I did get some new tires, install a new bumper, and machine some new rims for it in the mean time.

Don't think you are doing it right.. you are still linking images, instead of uploading the pics to the post..
If you look at the bottom of the pic, you will see the link "Click here to upload images and files!"

RE: Tamiya Buggy Champ 2009 Resource Thread!
I eliminated a lot of slop in the front end of my Buggy Champ today. I'll take photos the next time I take it apart.
What I did was bore new upper and lower tubes for the front end with .228" + .001" bores, and then turned new upper and lower trailing arm shafts from heat treated 15-5ph stainless with .228" - .001" shafts. I also bored out the centers of my wheels to accept bearing spacers, turned the spacers to fit, and installed shim washers. My front wheels now actually run on the bearings instead of wobbling around on the spindles!
These mods eliminated most of the slop in the front end, but the ball joints are still sloppy. I'm not sure how to fix that yet, but I have a few ideas.

Can someone please tell me what color the gold edition body is painted? I just wasted $14 on a can of TS-84 (what the Tower site says it's painted with), but it's the wrong color.

RE: Tamiya Buggy Champ 2009 Resource Thread!
that's the correct color, I bought a can as well, to paint the roof of my Gold Edition Buggy Champ to match the body and the TS-84 is a shade off(but it is the correct color)....I ended up painting my roof black...just gonna have to hang on to the paint till you paint a complete body(still annoying though)....you got to remember Tamiya paints their bodys in mass with huge amounts of paint that are mixed in house where as the spray cans are mixed/filled in another facility, and when that happens you NEVER get an exact match..oh well live and learn..

In case anyone wants to match the Gold Edition color, I found that TS-21 clear-coated is very close to the correct color. Well at least for the one I bought a few months ago. I know a lot of people don't like the gold color, but I think it looks nice - very old school - can remember seeing many gold cars (and dune buggies) back in the day. BTW, the paint doesn't seem to match when 1st sprayed, but when a clear coat is added, it gets darker and the shiny gold effect goes away.

I agree I think the Gold looks great unlike most people.....The only frustrating thing as I've been running Gold&White as my personal colors for over 30 years(I've been racing RC since the beginning) which I guess makesme an O.G.(Original Gansta)andnow with therelease ofGold Edition carsthere are a ton of guys running"MY" colors lol...oh well what can you do?

My project Sand Scorcher re-re. I relocated the steering servo forward, and used a set of Brat steering rods. This allows for a 6 cell battery to fit nicely in the water tight enclosure.
