Default help! i killed my motor

ok i have just got back from my first race an i have had my rustler xl-5 for about ten days an i burned out the motor already not good. i must be doing something very wrong to do that. at first the esc kick in an just shut the motor down because it was over heating. i was running a 7cell 4200mah battery when that happen an after waiting for about an hour to let it cool i popped in a 6 cell battery 4200mah an switched in a lower pinion gear in. an then the motor went. i know that the motor is shot because i pulled the motor out an took the motor plugs an stuck them directly into a battery to see if it went (the guy an the hobby shop showed me this) an it doest even move. what should i do to make sure this doesnt happen again?

Usually stock motors tend to go out. Just spend the extra money and get a better brushed motor. I am a fan of the Trinity motors. Not a fan of Venom, at all!

Look up "Titan Killer" on ebay.  I've done this and it works great.....but, they are slower so they require a larger pinion to make up for the loss of RPM.
