RE: OMG? overheating
Thats hot for 7 cells. How is your gear mesh?Could be too tight or something binding in the drive train. Or if its 95+ degrees outside.
Check out my install of a heat sink and fan on my Slash with the 5700 motor

RE: OMG? overheating
That is ridiculously hot, are you sure that is correct? Something doesnt fit, the gearing should be fine, the mambas run a little hot but not like that, and its only 7 cells.
My guess is you have a really crappy battery and it cant keep up with the demands of the system.
What is getting that hot, battery, esc, or motor?

RE: OMG? overheating
That's way too hot, especially for a 7 cell pack. How long did you run it for until it got that hot? I've seen motors hit 240 on a 3S pack with no damage, but you might have crossed that undisclosed 'magic' threshold and damaged the magnets.

RE: OMG? overheating
they say dont go over 200F, your pushing 300F, your motors gonna explode lol make sure nothing is binding in the drive train, in the drive shafts and in the diff, everything should spin like butter, if it doesnt theres a problem. how hot is the esc?, the way i look at it is if the motors really really hot you have it overgeared if the esc is really hot but the motor is just so/so then its undergeared, i try to look for a 50/50 heat ratio or close to it, but it doesnt always happen, check the gear mesh use paper to set it up, make sure the paper is tight in the gears but doesnt rip when you try to pull it out. it could be that huge body thats not letting any air get around the electronics try 13/90. thats all i no of, try a heatsink as well, if none of that works it could be a faulty motor, my 4600 on 3s geared 16/86 gets 200f after a good 20 minutes of hard running with big tires (5.4 inch) i dontunderstand why it's running so hot

RE: OMG? overheating
That might have been an error reading but i was holding the temp gauge for a bit and it was around 250 after. But still that is hot. The mesh is loose if anything. I have been running in sand lately so there might be some sand in the tranny or a lot of drag with the paddles.

RE: OMG? overheating
you can. i pull my motors down every once and a while
to clean them. air pressure is usually handy as sand gets caught
in all the wires around the can. i even smoothen the alum part of the
rotor if its not smooth. pull the end off that the wires go in, and be careful,
try to get out as much dirt as possilbe because you can actually make
the motor worse/push the dirt in.
