Default Charging a new battery

I just got into the hobby. I bought a Duratrax 1500 cell, and a Dynamite charger and I'm wondering how to go about charging the cells for the first time. I've heard that you need to break the battery in, but I don't have any idea what that means.

The charger has a 15 minute timer on it. Should I be just cycling it 15 minutes at a time? Should I just leave it on trickle charge overnight?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try Radical RC. Read the charging new batt. section.

Default Charging a new battery

i recently had this problem myself. i have a dynimite charger(vision Peak) it always helps to have a peak charger because with new batterys the cells are kind of wacky and unmatched so its good to use the battery right as you get it and use what ever juice is in it until the car wont go. then charge it fully twice, maybe 3 times and do this a couple of times after use then the battery should function well.
