Got my Revo VXL yesterday

I'll post pics and videos later today probably.

I did drive one at the LHS (the owner, friend of mine, couldn't resist tearing one open and playing with it) and it's a blast, with 2 batteries it's faster than a stock 1/10 E-Revo - and handles just as well. It's really a well rounded RC car, probably the best you can get for the price.

Anyway like I said, videos will be coming later today, I'll take mine to the park or something.

I went to me LHS to get one prepared to pay the $290 list, but they wanted $330...... Can we say price gouging? Oh well, lost them a sale and gave it to tower, saves me money anyway....
Did you at least try to barter or let you know how they felt?
Fight the retail markup... what is it... +40-60% in some cases.

My wife was actually the one in the hobby shop, i was at work, but she called me in front of them to let me know it was way more than i told her it would be... I figure if they really thought they needed the sale, they would have said something.... I honestly don't mind paying 10-15% more at a LHS to have it RIGHTNOW, but this was almost 40% more than I can get it for online... I got my lst xxl at that store for $670, which is 10% more than i would get it for online, Ipaid $230 for my minimonster bajathere, and $100 for my mini blade cx, but those were all the list prices.... Listfor the mini E-revo is $289..... I bet they did sell out at $330, but its still not right...

Got mine today. This thing is sweet! I have two packs but havent used the series adapter yet, I want to learn it's driving characteristics before I drive this tiny thing at 50 MPH! It is plenty fast with one battery so far, 2 is gonna be just hilarious!

And just for fun...

These things need to be tweaked a bit out of the box, a lot of the alignments (camber, toe) are kinda off.

I keep seeing everyone calling the adapter to run 2 packs a series adapter. That is not right, because you can't run 4S or 6S on this thing, if you have two 2S packs in series that's 4S, and two 3S packs is 6S. It's a parallel adapter, not series. Just posting this so there isn't wrong info floating around.

EDIT: Just found this on TowerHobbies, Tower does have both a series and a parallel adapter. If it is infact series, then Traxxas fails and people are going to be frying their ESC's. The only way you can use series on this truck is if you have two packs of identicle stats, with one of them being a 1S pack and the other being 2S.

DOUBLEEDIT: Just Re-Read Sheo's first post, and noticed it said that you can run 14.4 volts (or assuming you can use two 2S LiPo's, 14.8 volts) through this ESC. Is the ESC really capable of handling 12 cells NiMH or 4S LiPo?

I was talkin to a guy on AIM (Wild YFZ 450 here on RCU) who got on already and ran it on two 3S packs in parallel with the stock pinion and it was crazy fast, tons of torque.

This is his Mini E-Revo VXL -

From what I have read on the Traxxas forums, seems like the first known issue is the driveshafts, the universal joints pops out.
tut tut tut, get the fashion police on the guy in the vid: socks & sandals?

So I ran 2 packs on mine yesterday... If you are going to do this often, I would recommend the center differential kit for sure to help keep the nose down, It wants to backflip. It is fun as a novelty, but it is literally so fast, that it is uncontrollable, soI probably wont be doing it to often. On a side note, after a 2 battery pack fueled crash, I broke my rear left upper a-arm. Anybody have parts for these things in stock yet? Tower says: "Late June" on therse arms...

Here are some videos of me messing around

First off is one nice backflip.

http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...rrent=flip.flv

Second, some high speed runs (and this is on a somewhat depleted battery)

http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...ent=speeed.flv

Third, A high speed run that turned into a flipout into the shrubbery - nothing broke

http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...speedcrash.flv

And finally, inspiration to put some grip tape on that jump.

Man, this thread's been sleeping for a while! How happy are folks with their MERVs after owning them a while? I've had the Slash since last August, and the only time I'm really satisfied with it is when I'm running on a baseball diamond or wide open dirt area. I've stiffened up the springs to double blacks, tried all different combinations of preload settings and shock oils, and no matter what, this thing won't settle down. Cornering is atrocious on anything other than smooth dirt(where it is actually fantastic fun!), but at least it's durable, since it spends a lot of time cartwheeling and pogo-ing when the suspension lets it down. I've finally given in to the idea that I'm never going to get it handling as well as my other cars, so it's decision time: Do I spend $50 or so and do a long arm conversion (plus another $40 for bigger wheels/tires perhaps), or do I sell it and cut my losses? Hmm......just wondering aloud here. edit: Just realized this thread is in the general offroad forum...
