Default Official 1/16 E-Revo and Slash VXL Thread

Post pictures and experiences with your 1/16 Revo/Slash here.

According to Traxxas the new 1/16 VXL vehicles have shipped to retailers. Ipreordered one at myLHS today, the owner said they should be here by the middle of next week. Really nice looking truck, all the features of the larger E-Revo scaled down, and a brand new 1/16 brushless system. RTRpackage comes with a battery and charger too, which is nice, though to get the full potential you need a second battery and a series connector to feed theESC 14.4 volts. Alternatively, you can run 2 batteries and a parallel connector to double your run time.

Price seems to be just under $300 most places, so it's pretty cheap. My guess is that these will be really popular, judging by the specs and design they seem to be pretty much the best mini RTRs you can get.

Some official photos of the vehicles fromTraxxas:

Love the look of these things, Traxxas have done themselves proud with them. Hopefully -but doubtfully- the low prices will carried 'cross the pond. Anyone happen to know when they'll be arriving in the uk?

Yeah, this is really the perfect casual RC for me. I have tons of 1/10 monster trucks but they're just a bit too big to run around the neighborhood. This will be perfect for when I don't want to drive to a bashing spot.

Looking to purchase a 1/16 Slash. Just got word from a bird in Pennsylvania that they will be racing these indoors on carpet and the Jaco sedan Prism wheels mount right up. They should be pretty cool on carpet with the foams.

I keep seeing everyone calling the adapter to run 2 packs a series adapter. That is not right, because you can't run 4S or 6S on this thing, if you have two 2S packs in series that's 4S, and two 3S packs is 6S. It's a parallel adapter, not series. Just posting this so there isn't wrong info floating around.

EDIT: Just found this on TowerHobbies, Tower does have both a series and a parallel adapter. If it is infact series, then Traxxas fails and people are going to be frying their ESC's. The only way you can use series on this truck is if you have two packs of identicle stats, with one of them being a 1S pack and the other being 2S.

DOUBLEEDIT: Just Re-Read Sheo's first post, and noticed it said that you can run 14.4 volts (or assuming you can use two 2S LiPo's, 14.8 volts) through this ESC. Is the ESC really capable of handling 12 cells NiMH or 4S LiPo?

I was talkin to a guy on AIM (Wild YFZ 450 here on RCU) who got on already and ran it on two 3S packs in parallel with the stock pinion and it was crazy fast, tons of torque.

This is his Mini E-Revo VXL -

From what I have read on the Traxxas forums, seems like the first known issue is the driveshafts, the universal joints pops out.

There are two different adapters Krawlin. One for series, one for parallel.

Traxxas 50mph claim is from running on two 6 cell nimh packs in series with an optional smaller pinion gear.

Which one do I get? Are the differences purely superficial (different body, wheels, tires) like the rc18mt, t, or b? I'm leaning toward the revo over the slash simply b'cos I look the monster look vs. scale.

Whatever Ido get, I'll post some vids in the usual place as soon as possible.

The revo has wider A arms, and different springs, besides aesthetic differences.
Best thing is to just get both.

I just stopped by the local hobbytown on an errand, and the owner hands me the transmitter to the shop demo mini revo and tells me to take it outside for a spin.  How could I refuse?  O M G !  Wow, that's fast!  Handles pretty well, too, at least from what I could tell on wet pavement.  I'm not the world's biggest Traxxas fan for sure, but this thing will definitely be a BIG hit.  I think I just might have to bring home one of the Slashes, Amsoil body, please.

Krawlin, you are wayyyy behind .

Our lhs just got another 4 of the revos in. Not one has sold yet though lol. I think more of the employees are going to buy them out. We have a total of 6 in the shop and I think about 4 of them are being claimed. I will be getting one next week, hope they are still in on Tuesday...

I went to me LHS to get one prepared to pay the $290 list, but they wanted $330...... Can we say price gouging? Oh well, lost them a sale and gave it to tower, saves me money anyway....

Did you at least try to barter or let you know how they felt?
Fight the retail markup... what is it... +40-60% in some cases.
