Kyosho Lazer ZX5 Radio Issues
I have a koyosho lazer zx5 that has range issues...
I have a trinity speed gem2 jade motor on a dynamite tazer 12t esc and the radio is a futaba 2pl am computerized unit.
I'm only good for about 80 - 100 feet away and the buggy will quit responding. To get it to come back I have to point the antenna at it and then I can control it again.
the radio has a battery meter in it and I am still showing over 10 volts so the batteries are far from dead.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any advice.

AM radios have the lowest range and are the most prone to interference. Upgrade to FM or if you can afford it 2.4ghz and you'll have a lot more range.

Hi Druss,
I agree going to FM will be best. I'm in Edmonton as well, do you know anyone selling an old FM unit? I've posted on the local forums looking for one, lots of hits but no replys. I picked up a XP3D from a buddy but I have that in my mini lst.
Thanks.

Sidenote, the higher up your antenna wire is/the less that is inside the shell the longer the range you can get. Also if the transmitter batteries are low, you get less range. Just my experence with AM

Hi Druss,
Any luck on locating a radio and receiver that needs a new home? I remounted my esc and receiver in the buggy, I also mounted the antenna on the upper deck it helped but not enough to take it to the track.
Thanks for looking.

Let me take a look and see if I have an old FM unit sitting around that I can sell you for cheap.

Well thanks for looking. I appreciate it.
Are you a basher or a racer? Maybe we can meet up on the same dirt pile...

Sorry buddy, can't find anything. The only radios (besides my own primary) are all AM.
