Default slash gearing

I need to get a pinon gear for my brushless slash with 2.8 wheels .. I was thinking a 20T , would that work?

The p stands for pitch and the slash stock is 48 p. A 20 tooth would be a good starting point.

20 is a little high. First that Motor/ESC combo uses the 380 sized motors. Finned can EZruns have 380 internals. I'd treat this much like a MM4600 and start the gearing around 14/86 and go up from there. Your best bet is to buy 14, 15 & 16 tooth pinions. I'm sure one of those is what you'll need. By comparison I run 58/12 in 32 pitch in one of my slash's with a VXL. 58/12 is pretty close to 18/86 in 48 pitch. But that is with the stronger 3500KV VXL motor.

Keep an eye on your temps. if the motor gets over 160F you need to gear down.
