What 1/10 should i get?
We are getting a 1/10 electric/nitro offroad track at our club and what do you guys suggest for a 1/10 electric?
I been looking at the SC10 and thought about that, i like the short course style but heard some bad things about it.
Can you guys point me in the right direction?
Looking to spend no more than £200-£220, have radio gear and lipo's, just the truck, motor and ESC...
What do you suggest?
Cheers.

But i will be doing more racing than bashing, at least twice a week racing and bashing on the odd occasion.
Just what would be a good kit for intermediate to advanced level for around £200 for mainly racing but a bit of bashing

A competent driver will do better with an SC10 than a Slash. However, if you're a rookie it probably won't make much of a difference.
You really can't go wrong with AE, Losi, or Kyosho. They're all great vehicles with a reputation for being race winners, AE in particular. They're also plenty tough enough for occasional bashing.
What kind of track setup do you have? That will make a difference on whether or not you're going to want a buggy, ST, SC, truggy, etc... Also, make sure and buy something that has a class at your track; no sense in buying an SC10 is their is no SC class.

RE: What 1/10 should i get?
Well we have just layed down tough astroturf with small contours and natural small jumps, quite a fast layout with smooth corners, iv been through RC vehicles alot so i would consider myself intermediate to advanced.
We also have a larger fully off road track which is compacted to fine dirt with medium jumps, contours etc which would be used for the bashing but mainly on the 1/10 track.
Im just a bit stumped on what to look for really, i like the short course truck bu ti dont feel you can mod them as much as others, or am i wrong?
Again £££ comes up lol only £200 on chassis, motor and ESC so am even more stumped on what to get lol

Well, it sounds to me like the SC10 could definitely be a good option for you. As far as not having many mods available, well, on an AE you generally don't need any mods above and beyond the Factory Team parts. However, the SC10 is essentially a T4 that has a few minor changes, therefore, you should be able to put many of the aftermarket parts for the T4 onto the SC10. I'm sure once some more time passes that their will be more SC10 specific parts available as well.

Maybe I'm too short-sighted or not competitive enough, but I'd get the Slash anyway. I hate being out of action waiting for parts.
Also, Slash classes are pretty big here. They might have a spec class just for Slashes at some point in the future.
If you'll be racing against other types of offroad vehicles, be prepared to receive a Whup-O-Gram. On a groomed track, the lower CoG of buggies and stadium trucks will lose every race for you. I assume you wouldn't compete against 4WD, as that is a sure formula for defeat.
What kind of classes are set up there?

None as of yet, were in the process of building the 3rd track, unfortuantly here in the UK slash are not popular at all! Never seen anyone with one.
And thats the thing, i cant see many people getting a short course truck around here more onto the buggies and truggies...
What do you think of the Losi desert truck?

I hear the Losi DT is a great truck, I've never had any experience with them, but that they do have a couple of issues. As for the SC10, I've not heard of one issue yet.

I would wait it out until racing starts over there to see what classes are most popular. And when helping the owners build the track ask them what classes they expect to be popular. The DT wouldn't be good if there was 2wd truck racing andthe Lazer ZX-5 kit would be great for 1/10 4wd buggy, but 4wd has more parts to break. I know that 2wd buggy and 4wd buggy are popular in the UK.

a t4 kit would be a good place to look, they are a very established chassis and has aftermarket support, one of the best 1/10th trucks on the market!

Yeah, the T4 is a sweet machine. However, since the SC10 is almost identical to a T4 I would assume that it's got to be just as good of a truck as the T4, but handles a little differently.

i would say xxx-t from losi or t4. my xxx-t is great. i just needed to do a lot of upgrading to make it so it could handle a brushless system and a brushless crash. but it is awsome now.
