Default Kershaw Designs gearing

Ok so I posted a thread and thought I found the answers I was looking for but further looking into it discovered I have no idea what I'm doing. I have an E-maxx 16.8v that I want to put the twin kershaw designs 700ho v2 motors in but want to make sure I get a decent speed boost. not too concerned about doing wheelies and I know the kershaw motors even when geared to go fast will out pull the stock 550's which had plenty of low end grunt anyway. My confusion started while reading the sticky article about "understanding gear selection". he has posted a link to a calculator and I put all my figures in then changed the pinion gear number and that calculation and the e-maxx owners manual had conflicting information. One said it would be going faster and the other slower. So I'd like some help figuring all this out in lamest terms please!! Sorry about the duplicate posts but just wanted to make sure I got exposure. Thanks

You cant just ask questions, you need to just get a pack of pinions and mess around

Maybe some specific questions would be in order. It must not be as simple as using kershaw's recommended pinion gear?

One thing is for sure, the larger pinion will have higher top speed. You won't be too far off by starting out with stock gears and then going up if you want more speed.

well i asked Dan from kershaw and he said with the 19 tooth gear the 700's come with would only yield 3-4mph over stock. from what i've read. thats not 40mph. 3-4mph is not worth speding the extra money in my eyes. kershaw is selling the set for 80 i can get another titan for 20. ya know?

How about using the stock 20 tooth then? It will be faster. I agree, it is not worth the money.

That's why you check temperatures at regular intervals when testing new setups. The only other way you find out of you're running too hot is when it starts smoking.
Driving style plays just as big a part in motor/esc temps as gearing.
The 700 HO motors should be able to handle higher gearing without much trouble.
