I've been out of the hobby for 5 years and would like to make my xxx-t competitive in mod dirt off-road racing. I'm looking for a brushless motor/esc system. The Novak GTB seems pretty sweet. I don't know if I'll want a 10.5 or 8.5 motor. For comparison, I used to run my truck with a brushed 12 turn motor. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

for racing the novak is a popular choice. I would suggest you see what others are running at the track. if the class calls a 13.5 or 10.5 then an 8.5 does you no good. likewise if its unlimited/open you can check to see what they are running, a tight technical course might not be good with a 5.5 motor, etc
