Hi, welcome to RCU. The slash is a great truck. So is the stampede if you have a lot of rougher terrain to run on. If you have a lot of smooth surface with jumps and fast corners the rustler is great too. There's plenty of other choices too. Duratrax, HPI, asscociated,Losi,Tamiya. I'm sure I forgot some.

Like others have said the Slash is an awesome truck and you will be very happy with it. The Pede is also a fun truck if you really like to jump or run on really rough stuff.

My brother has a Slash and even though I have a brushless MBX5T and a Losi 8ight 2.0 (nitro), I still think it's an absolute blast to drive. I am actually going to sell my 8ight 2.0 soon and buy a Slash instead.

But whatever you decide on going with, make sure it's electric. It's so much easier than nitro and is just as much fun if not more since you don't need to spend time tuning and cleaning up afterwards.

Have fun! [8D]

Slash or Stampede are both good choices. Make sure to take a careful look at where you plan to run the car before you buy. If running in grass and rough terrain is going to be normal for you then a Stampede might be a better choice over a Slash. the Slash is a good truck, but doesn't have the ground clearance of a Monster turck like the Stampede.

Slash is a great choice. Extremely durable, easily upgradeable and parts readily available. My 5 year old has one and he loves it.

get a traxxas car as your first. they are normally durable and cheap to fix. id go with the rustler myself. that was my second car. i had a stampede first but sold it for the rustler. the rustler could handle more stuff believe it or not because it was not so top heavy. the slash really dosent handle well. but they are all good trucks. you would be happy with any of them. when you become more experienced i would start looking at some losi and hpi cars. also look into a slow brushless system. not necessarily any faster than the stock. brushless is a lot eisier to deal with and it is a little better power wise and you get slightly longer run times.

Not from what I've read. A TANK? Uh uh. After you've replaced a bunch of parts with RPM parts, then yeah maybe.
The thing about Traxxas, my young friend, is that if you have a hobby store nearby, they will carry parts. If no other parts, they will carry Traxxas.

Don't trust everything u read.... The slash is just as strong if not stronger than most SCT's.... It defiantly does not need RPM parts to be durable.... My buddy has 6 stock slashes that he hires out on weekends... The Stock parts are holding up fine... Only thing non stock is he uses motor oil for the shocks and glues the cap on... Biggest weakness is the bodies... Not the suspension parts.

Syco, even in a 4 year old thread - the fanboys have to give love and the detractors have to hate
