Mad's Tamiya Juggernaut thread
Well, for a while now, even though I haven't said much about it online, I've been working on building a Jug 2 from scratch. Many of you are probably already thinking"why didn't the retard just buy a nib one off ebay?". To tell you the truth, I just didn't think that building one would be as expensive as buying one off a scalper(darn them[:@]). While I DID waste a lot of time tracking down parts, I may very well have saved some money(or at least broke even). By the time that it's completely finished(including electronics) I will have spent a bit over $700. Currently NIB Jugs are going for about $600 shipped. Add in electronics and you'll reach $700 easily.
It started way back in the year 2000, when kits reigned supreme. I was just a newbie to RC(I know it's hard to believe ) looking for his first "real" RC car. I flipped open the latest Tower Hobbies catalog and paged through it, looking for something to catch my fancy. That's when I first saw the tamiya Juggernaut 2, and although I wanted it badly, $335 was just too much for a ten year old to save. I ended up buying a Traxxas Sledgehammer kit and a couple years later, the Juggernaut was discontinued, fading into a memory. In 2008 I had a relapse of "Juggernaut fever" and set about building one from parts(explained above). I'm almost done. All I need now are the steering knuckles, axle stubs, esc, and servo. Here is what I have now.
Note:To save money, I used a high lift body and leafs.

Thanks guys.
By the way, if anyone wants to share pics of their Jug 1 or 2 feel free to do so. Also, I'm more than willing to answer any questions you may have about them.

I've always liked the look of the Juggs. Looks very tough and beefy.
Tamiya hit the nail on the head making the Jugg, looks like the real deal in RC form.

sick dude. One of my favorite trucks evAr!
The little wheels propping the chassis up look funny just imagining them mounted. Like monster trucks when they have tractor wheels installed for transport

That thing is huge! Looking forward to seeing more as things finalize...
Any comparison pics of the chassis next to a 1/10 buggy or ST?

Here's a few mock up pics. I still don't have all the the parts I need to mount the wheels properly, so I just set the axle ends on the insides of the rims. When fully assembled, it will be wider and a sit a little higher.
Next to my TXT-1 and M03 mini cooper.

Wow there is an obvious difference. The TXT has a much longer wheelbase. The jugg looks all scrunched up.
Have you drove the jugg yet to see the driving difference between the two trucks?

Update: My Jugg's all complete. Except for a few dress up parts, it's finished.

RE: Mad's Tamiya Juggernaut thread
Thanks. Yeah it dosen't look all skinny like when it was just set there. I took it for a couple of test drives and was surprised by how much I liked driving it. The large V lugs jostle it slightly when it drives making the leafs rattle. It made me think of the noise a tank's treads make.
