yeah chaging your tire size changes your over all roll out. . so you are going to have to gear down to try and get the same roll out you have before. Also the bigger tires have more mass and it takes more to turn them so your car will never have the same run time..

I have 2 Traxxas Bandits.
I changed one of them to a street truck. I like them. A lot of fun.
I also have 4 nitro cars and trucks and buggies.

"Gearing down" means to decrease the pinion:spur gear ratio.
That means running either a smaller pinion gear, or a larger spur gear.
For example, if you are running a 20tooth pinion, and an 80tooth spur, you are running 1:4. If you were to change the pinion gear to 15 lets say, your ratio is now 1:5.3
This would be a drastic change. Changing 5 teeth on the spur would have less affect, allowing for smaller increments of change, and a finer tune. For example, staying with the 20tooth pinion, and increasing the spur by 5 teeth to an 85 (still gearing down here) would change the ratio from 1:4 to 1:4.25, making a much smaller change in overall ratio.
Gearing down - longer runs, lower temp, more acceleration, less top speed
Gearing up - shorter runs, higher temps, less acceleration, more top speed

Just a personal observation:
I run my Rustler with a 16x2 and 15tooth pinion. The motor and esc stay cool. The top speed is slower than the stock (18?) pinion provided, but quick takeoffs and wheelies are much more fun than top speed. I'm going to try a 13 tooth next.
